The most I can tell you is,, I switched over July 13 to the mac book and I like it alot. It is faster than my PC lap top. I wasnt sure if I would be able to pic up on it, but it is EASIER! I have never been one to use excel so I am not sure about that. I know that you would have to purchase in addition to the mac book, the windows program, They do not come installed (as far as I know). There is a whole Office program kit that you can purchase.
I know that also if you are afraid that you will not pick up on how to use it, they sell this program at the apple store that for 1 hour a week at the store you can set up an appointment and sit down with a specialist and they will show you how to use every program that they have on your computer. I think it is only 10 a session(????)

You should definitely switch to a Mac from a regular PC. They are fabulous and extremely easy to use. We have a MacBook and a Powerbook and they are both really really great computers. Dont worry about picking up on how to use a Mac because the thing theyre known for is being user friendly. And im sure you'll end up finding that the Mac is actually easier to use than your PC was.
And another great thing about Mac's is they have excelent customer service! So if you ever happen to have a problem, they'll take care of it right away for you.
As far as the wireless, I dont know about things like that, thats what my FH is for. Sorry, I cant help ya there.
Believe me, switch. You wont be sorry. I can never imagine myself going back to using a regualr PC.

I'm an apple user, I switched last year and so far I love it. Its so much better than a pc,(JMO) you will have no problems learning to switch. I thought it would be hard for me, but it turned out to be a quick and fun learning process.

Microsoft Office runs just fine, its does look a little different, but its basically the same.

As a pc user, you get used to using the crtl key for all of your commands, on a Mac, its all the same but instead of the crtl you'd press the apple key.

As far as wireless, if you already have a router at home setup in your house, once you turn on your mac, it will automatically pick up your home network. This is not something extra that you have to pay for. If you already have internet access, but no router, than you gotta go buy a router, which is about $60.00

I switched to Mac 2 years ago and I can't even tell yu how happy I am. I will NEVER go back to PC. My computer never crashes or gets spyware.

The o nly problem is that AOL hasn't improved on the AIM program for Macs in so long. That program crashes all the time, but it's a bug in the software, not your Mac. All you have to do is download this program called 'Adium' that runs AIM for you - it is really cool looking and has great features, and it NEVER crashes!

all time mac user here. If your getting a mac book i wouldn't bother getting the pro unless you have the money and you plan on doing some intensive work on it like video/image editing. I honestly work on a Imac at work and I am a graphic designer and I have a mac pro tower at home. I am currently getting the mac pro laptop at work now because I am killing the Imac due to my use of quick keys and photo retouching.

As for programs all you have to get use to is using the command (apple key) instead of control and honestly macs are plug and play not taking time up to load drivers like PC's.

SO switch away!
