Any Aspiring Writers out there ??? COME ON OUT !

Hey girls!

I know alot of you LOVE to read a good book...SO i was wondering if any of you also like to write, or if you do any writing, or plan to....

I have always LOVED writing. When I got assigments in school, especially in college, the BIG assignments, I was psyched to tackle it right away. I even offered to write some of my sisters papers any time she wanted....

Ive kept journals way back in my early teens, and then again when i got pregnant (and I slacked off in mid-pregnancy !)

Anyway, my interests (which i'd like to make my GOALS TO STICK TO !) have always been:
Maybe if i see this in writing, I will make a vow to pursue my interests !!

-Keeping a journal that my kids could read years from now...

-Writing children's books...

-Document somehow, all the proverbs my grandparents said...

-Document my parents lives, coming to this country, how they felt, etc, etc..

I just went to my local library, and they had a 'writers group' meeting, so I went to see what it was all about. Much to my surprise, there were about 20 people there ! They all brought something they had written to read and get constructive feedback on... Its so interesting how many people are out there, and what their interests are.. One lady read part of a chapter of a book she is about ot publish (her own memoirs, her 22yr relationship with her now-deceased husband ) Her writing was amazing. A few guys read essays that were based on their childhood, the eager pre-teen boy who nervously asks the pretty girl to dance, they 2nd grader who didnt want to read a book and that very book changed his view on books and reading...

Just wanted to see what everyone else is doing out there as far as writing...

Now this session got me thinking, and really eager to get the ball rolling....

PS-I'd love to share a poem I wrote to my deceased grandfather when I was about 14 ! if anyones interested !!

Anna, is there anyplace you can write for from home? A local Newspaper or a magazine? Maybe get something of your own published? Good Luck

I wrote little things here and there for my High School Paper....

I havent written that much (outside of school assignments), but Ive just had it in the back of my mind forever !! I even started writing stuff down that my dad told me about 'when he was a kid'..and that was when I was about to get married and move out... so there went that one...

But I really wanna continue ! (wanna, not proper English, Anna ! - I cant help writing in SLANG online!) I have to write to people like I tawk ! HAH.

I just read some more of the 'do you want to have a baby' thread on the newlywed board, and I have to say
WE ARE ALL OFFICIALLY ADVICE COLUMNISTS!!
So YEs, we all have a DESIRE TO WRITE and we DO IT WELL !

I write a lot, usually poetry though. . . I like writing any kind of love poems, and poems of hope. I do it often. Sometimes to give as a gift, for weddings, and some just because something came to me and I just wrote it down.

I wrote 1 children's book, but never did anything with it
I am also thinking about writing a novel with a twist
But it requires some research, which I haven't had the time to do

I would like to get back to my writing, which I love

Liz, show us some stuff that you've written !!

One of John's aunts also writes great poems, and for our engagement she wrote us a great poem. I framed it and had it on the 'picture' table at our wedding, I have to find it and share it...

I never thought about writing until I took a creative writing class in HS and then I applied for one in college (had to subnit work) and I was one of 15 chosen from 100+...and I was the only one who was not an English major...

As much as I would love to sit down and write a novel...there is just no time in my day...but that will be changing soon...(Can't wait to post my 'change')

Ive been getting more interested in screenplays...there is a website from Kevin Spacey for aspiring screenwriters... www.triggerstreet.com

you have to read 2 screenplays to post...but they produce one movie a year from there...who knows...maybe I'll get picked!! :)

that one wasn't really a 'poem' more like a reading,just for Shamma

I'll give samples of 'poems' tonight. I usually don't rhyme, but occasionally I do.
