Any brides and FH paying for their own wedding?

Any brides and FH paying for their own wedding?

We opted to pay for everything ourselves since I didn't want anyone trying to takeover and do things their way. But it's getting crazy how expensive everything is and it adds up so quick. I'm not regretting it but my fmil is constantly saying to me that they have money if I need to borrow and just pay them back after. I feel like if I do that than she will think she has a say. Am I the only one out there who is stressing doing this? I know I'll feel so good after knowing that we did it all by ourselves. Ugh just stressing and venting

My parents are paying for the RH and my dress but we are paying for everything else. Even with their help I feel stressed with how much everything is going to cost us. I had no idea what to expect when I started planning. I'm so fortunate to have my parents help but it is still hard. I welcome any ideas that my family wants to give me because I feel like I have no idea what I am doing

We are getting some help but most will be paid by us. We have about 18 months and I'm still stressed out about the finances! Why are weddings so expensive

Me and FH are paying for everything. My parents don't have a lot of money and whatever they do have, I would rather they save it for their retirement, lol. It is stressful though--we have put ourselves on a strict savings budget and promised to not put anything on the credit card. We are cutting corners in certain places (we realized we don't need to pay $500 extra dollars for uplighting). The day will be beautiful no matter what! If all goes well, I think we'll be able to do it and the best part--the sense of accomplishment that you paid for your entire special day together! Good luck--everything will turn out okay

My parents paid for my wedding dress, my mom is putting together the favors and Im sure they will help us along the way but mostly its us. FH family didnt even send our daughter a card for her 1st. Christmas this last year and has only seen her once when she was 2 months old (she will be 1 in a month) and that was cause we went to them so I doubt they will help us if they cant even spend 2.00 for the baby.

Us too! We're swinging this one ourselves for the most part. My parents a have given us some money to help out (and I am so thankful) but to be honest, it's less than half of RH costs alone. FILs are paying for the rehearsal dinner, so that's another plus. Everything else is on us, and we're feeling it. But it's worth it! We're just strictly budgeting and prioritizing.

My mom has passed and my dad doesnt have much at all so I feel its unfair to have his parents help. Plus like u said I want that sense of accomplishment. I' dont like taking things from people. We are on a strict budget as well but there are things I want so badly that are super expensive. It stinks but I know in the end everything will be amazing. Good luck to you and to all of you as well.

My parents are giving us some money but we are paying for most of it by ourselves, we are on a strict budget until the wedding!

We are paying for everything ourselves! We are definitely not going out as much and saving every penny we got!

My parents are paying but I pretty much have no say. They wanted us to have a Friday night and I did not want that at all, it brought me to tears!! I offered to compromise and do a daytime Saturday or daytime Sunday (didn't want friday- it's asking too much for the people who have to work) but they said we could not do a daytime. I also offered to take a DJ instead of band so we could get Saturday night but they said no to that too. I am frustrated b/c we were more than willing to compromise on everything but the day... finally my parents realised they had to give in b/c they are giving my sister the Saturday night they had to give us it too. It was frustrating to me that we offered all the compromises in the world and they wouldn't take them.

If i had the money, I'd have much rather paid for it myself so that I can make the decisions. But I would have had to sell my apartment and car in order to be able to get the money.

That's exactly what I didn't want with my fh parents. They would make all the decesions for my wedding.

my parents are paying for reception, yet FMIL is taking that as an invitation to invite everyone she has ever met!

Im like NOPE if you want 80+ people then you are more then welcome to pay the difference. So they cut their list.. how freakin cheap?

**She even told my FSIL oh its so nice that it looks like lindsay's parents are going to let us invite anyone we want...

this isnt the olden days where you trade me for a goat... pay for you ish.. sorry youhave 3 boys cough it up lady

FH and I are paying for it mostly by ourselves.. My parents are paying for our honeymoon as their gift to us and I really appreciate but other then that it's mostly just us. It's very hard but we cut corners where we could... I really wanted a September wedding but there was no way we could afford it so we went for April. Stressful but worth it to be able to make our own decisions.
