Any brides from the Philly metro or South Jersey area?

Hi Philly girls! I live in Bryn Mawr, PA, about 15 mins from Philly and I'm planning my Long Island wedding from here. I'm using only NY vendors EXCEPT for invitations and other stationery items. Does anyone have a recommendation for somewhere in the area to buy invitations and our placecards, table numbers, etc? I'd like to use the same vendor for everything but I don't know the area well and can't find a good place!

TIA!!

ETA: I know I'd be better off on a Philly based website, but the Bridal Planner site for Philly hasn't been posted on since September 2007 and I can't find a site like this there. Sorry!!!

Hi, Bonnie!!!! My Daughter, Deb, and I are from Lancaster, Pa. She's getting married in LI because she wanted a beach themed wedding, and FSIL's parents live in LI. She chose LIW because she needed vendors from LI, but I like LIW because it's easy to navigate. I didn't know Phila. had a site!! I had looked for a Pa. wedding site similar to LIW, but didn't find one. Nice to meet you!!!! Mary MOB

PS I had a HS friend graduate from nursing school, in Bryn Mawr.

Hey! My FH and I live in Queens now, but we're moving to Philly 2 days before the wedding!

We put a deposit on a place in W. Mt. Airy, but we're still looking to try to find a place closer to Center City... I love the apartment we picked but Fh is still very iffy about the area... it was a small deposit so we're willing to let it go if anything better comes along. Place is called Sedgwick Gardens, it's on W. Sedgwick.... any familiarity with/thoughts on that area? I've heard some good things about Bryn Mawr too, don't see to many places listed for rent in that area though.

For invites, you should check out www.stephita.com and www.pippysweets.com, they're both internet based so location doesn't matter, and they have great stuff!!

How nice to meet you, Mary! You must be so excited for Deb's Long Island wedding. It's nice to meet someone else in PA on LIW! LIW is run by the Bridal Planner group, which does have a Philly site (check it out here!) Unfortunately, the site is not as active as this one so it really hasn't been much of a help. Best of luck to you and Deb with the planning!!!

I think West Mount Airy is a good area - I've heard pros and cons about it, though. FH and I work in Bala Cynwyd and since we work outside of the city we KNEW we didn't want to live in center city (we wanted to avoid wage tax ). That's why we chose to live on the Main Line in Bryn Mawr. It's such an amazing little town with great restaurants and bars, right on the R5 line to Paoli or Center City,. Plus we got a GREAT deal here on rent (and there's plenty of parking, versus center city). We'll be here for a short time until we start looking for houses in the Upper Merion township (near King of Prussia). Maybe we'll run into each other in the area. Best of luck with your move to Philly. It's a great little city with tons of character and a lot of fun stuff to do!

ETA: thanks for your invitation recommendations! I'll take a look. I really want to do all the stationery, as well as create monograms, etc, with the same vendor and keep it pretty uniform throughout. I'll keep you updated!

Thanks, Bonnie!!!! Debi got her gown at Bridaltown, about 5/6 yrs. ago. She was engaged, wedding planned, fiance walked!! But, along came Fred!! Since she had bought her dream gown, never wore it, she's wearing it in June!!! Her Bachelorette is in Ocean City, Md. The girls will be staying at Castle in the Sand Hotel, where Fred proposed, and going to Seacrets Night Club. I'm mentioning a bunch of places, in case you're familiar with them. Our Son graduated from West Chester University, and dated a fellow West Chester U. gal, whose home is in Ocean, NJ. Mary MOB

PS Deb bought her wedding shoes at XO Bridal, King of Prussia Mall. I looked everywhere for a MOB gown at King of Prussia, and couldn't find what I wanted. Finally got a dress at Doneckers, in Ephrata, Pa. I was surprised the day I went to pick up my dress, there was a Mom there, from Newtown Square.

Aww that's wonderful Mary! I'm convinced everything happens for a reason! She was meant to be with Fred! Congratulations! Her bachelorette party will be a BLAST in MD. It's such a wonderful place and so fun! I don't actually know much about the area yet (we relocated here in September and I had foot surgery shortly after so I didn't have much time to explore). But I'll be working on my accelerated BSN degree to become a Nurse at Drexel Univ. in Center City. And I work in Bala Cynwyd on City Line Avenue. I love it here so far and can't wait to learn more about it!

Oh that's amazing!!! I can turn to you when I need advice or when I need to be reminded, throughout tough days of clinicals, why I want to be a Nurse! I'm completing my prerequesites for accelerated BSN this semester. I'm looking forward to starting on my degree and I can't wait to be a nurse. I'd really like to be a hospice/palliative care nurse - I hope I have it in me, but only time will tell, I guess.

Oh hi! I totally remember you - I used to be under a different name when I was first planning my wedding but it was my full name and a bride warned me about using it, so I've changed since then hope all is well!

the papery looks great!! i hope not too expensive though. maybe since I'll be doing everything from soup to nuts I'd get a discount. I'm going to check it out! thanks so much!

I have a friend, from Va. in Hospice Nursing. I worked in a mental health hospital, dealing with a variety of disorders, including drug addiction. It's tough, learning to be a nurse, and the Boards are tougher, but you can do it!!!!! There were many times I wanted to quit. But I didn't.
