Re: Any brides have Psoriasis?
I don't have it, but my fiancee does. He is on a mission to get it semi-cleared up before the wedding. He gets it bad on his head and scalp, and it is very noticible when it flares up! :( If you don't mind, what are you doing that works? He uses cream (I can find out the name) and goes tanning 2-3 times per week.

Re: Any brides have Psoriasis?
My scalp is also bad.
My doctor told me to start with olive oil for a few days. put it on my scalp and let it loosen up the P. I have done it in the past and its great. But you have to use medicine to clear it up after that.
So this week I will do olive oil for 2-3 days and really loosen it all up. Then I will do the medicine I have for a few days.
on my body I have been using dovonex. Thats for the next 3 months, every day. Thats prevents the P from coming back. I also have medicine to clear up the P. The dovonex keeps it from coming back.
And lots of sun!

I have a combo of eczema and psoriasis.....on my arms. And if thats not bad enough-it flares up when I am stressed!! It gets so bad that I will scratch so bad I start bleeding. Gross- I know!! After my ex husband and I got divorced it cleared up A LOT!! Now, I exfoliate and try to get some sun and that seems to help.

Like I said, I am going to start using olive oil tonight.
I part my hair and use a q tip. I dip the q tip and rub my scalp in the part with the Q-tip. That way the il goes where I want it. Also it means its not a lot of oil.
My hair does NOT get oily from this. I just wash it twice in the morning. No bi deal. Even my pillow case does NOT get gross.
I am curious how many of you are Jewish. I am. Its a VERY jewish disease (like african americans have sicle cell).
To the girl who said she JUST 'got it'. P is stress induced, so all the planning for the wedding can CERTANLY bring it out.
I suggest you ALL go to the National Psoriasis foundation website. I joined for $35 and have a year membership. They have great stuff on there and its VERY helpful. I just got a ful color brocure today on ALL over the counter medication available.
But if we talk about it and share what we do, we CAN help eachother.
DONT be embarassed. DONT let the P win!!! Im at the point where I am 'snowing' from my scalp its so bad. So I am doing something about it. A few days of olive oil, then using the medicine.
But I wont let the P win! It cost me my childhood but I will NOT let it cost me my adulthood

i have it too. it just cameback in my scalp. i have it on my elbows and in my ears. the cream that the doctor gave me actually burns hole through my clothing. i dont know what else to do. peanut oil works great in the scalp. i've only used it a few times, but smells really bad so i had to stop using.

Re: Any brides have Psoriasis?
I have psoriasis and has been coming out a bit more with the stress of work and planning for a wedding. My sister also has bad psoriasis that she gave up on creams and special shampoo and gave Humira a try. She calls Humira her miracle treatment since she is now psoriasis free for 1 year now and does not use creams or special shampoos anymore. Humira is an injection that you have to give yourself. She claims it was super easy since the needle looks like a pen and basically you press to the skin, click and you are done.
