Any brides NOT having dancing at their weddings??

Original post by CandB4604

I just feel like a DJ or Band would be too much money...I really wanted a band...anyone else having this problem or had this problem and had/will not have dancing?

I don't think it's that big a deal not to have dancing at the reception, as long as there's SOME kind of entertainment. I was the MOH at a wedding this past July where there was no music OR entertainment, so we just basically ate and chatted with each other. I had a great time only because I was with friends, my mother and sister however were bored out of their minds.

But entertainment may just end up close to the same price as the DJ... so just stick with music. My DJ is really great and he's only 700 for 4 hours. The one my sister used for her wedding a couple years ago is only 900. So you can definitely find one under 1k.

I wanted the exact same thing-nothing super corny or cheesy. I am planning a wedding, not a circus. I went with Absolute Entertainment and they worked with my on my vision. Good luck!

I think you need music.
I'd just do with the DJ. You have to go with what you can afford

In my complete and totally honest opinion, without music and dancing a wedding would just feel like a dinner or a work-related banquet of sorts.

I think it goes with the whole idea of the day.

Bands are on the pricey side, and some people feel they are more 'elegant' or whatever.

A good DJ is probably around 1/2 the cost of a band. And there are inexpensive DJs too.

I don't think music is the right choice of where to cut costs for a wedding ... music and food are the things that most guests will remember about your wedding.

I can't imagine going to a wedding with no entertainment. If anything I would definitely look into DJ's.

We used Vinny from High Voltage and I paid about 1200 for CH, reception, giveaways and lighting.

I would not have a reception at a hall without music, maybe a dinner somewhere else but not a hall

Ultimate sound dj's is great. I totally recommend them and you can get them for under 1k
that price also comes with a dj, mc, party favors etc...

Yes I agreed Ultimate Sounds DJ. As the other posters have said the guests will be talking about the food and the music once the day is over. I had guests who told me that Ultimate Sounds were energetic and got everyone up on the dance floor. Some guests even got their card after the wedding was over.

Check out the Generators, we almost booked them and they are great. They play a lot in Freeport. FM me for details

to me, that's mostly the fun about weddings. I think it would be mighty boring otherwise.

You can find some pretty cheap deals with DJ's out there. Maybe even find someone who is just starting out (although that brings it's own risks)

I'm using FM, getting 5 1/2 hours, a percussionist, and our monogram in lights for $1500.

The Baked Clams are a GREAT cover band. FM me for information...they have been playing so many places in the suffolk area and have gotten soo good !! Check them out on myspace too...just do a search under music for The Baked Clams.

The drummer is a good friend of mine, so if you are interested let me know. They are playing this upcoming weekend in Patchogue at a bar. I would recommend you see them live to see if you like them.

It really honestly depends on the hall...but in my honest opinion a wedding should have music...dont do it if you think you will regret it for the rest of ur life.
