Any Brides Not Planning to have BABIES when Married?
FH and I can't be the only ones!!?. Its like society pressures people to get married, then have babies... We discussed it and have decided not have children (by choice). I just don't want the hassle of a 9 month pregnancy, childbirth, then 21 yrs of parental responsibility. Neither does FH.
I'll be in my mid 30s and he will be in his early 40s when we tie the knot - we both have good incomes but only plan to get dogs/cats to take care of since we have demanding work schedules (me as an atty, he as an IT Tech head at a demanding school district and part time EMT volunteer)...so who else is planning to just enjoy taking vacations 3x a year and foregoing the baby making process?

if it were up to me we'd have dogs lots of dogs... but he wants kids so I'm doing it for him! He'll be the best daddy!

We are undecided...but we at least know that if we do have children it isn't going to be for a longggg time We plan on borrowing our nieces ! We are very lucky to have bought a house near our families!

I'm not sure - I'd like to but I also kind of like living my life and having a job and money and not having to worry about a kid with all this extra stuff u have to do. So we'll see...

whatever happens, happens...until we get back from the honeymoon and i go to the doctor to get bc,,,i'll have insurance finally! but, if we get pregnant on the honeymoon, then we get pregnant!

my sister got married two years ago and she doesn't plan on having children...you are def not the only couple with this in mind. no worries

Same here!! I'm definitely not ready for kids yet and every time FMIL brings it up, I tell her I'm sterile I did tell her the other day that I wasn't ready for kids and seemed to understand. Let's see if she actually does!! Yeah, it's going to be a little while before children come into the picture.

We are undecided also. I don' want any children but when I'm around my cousins' 11 month old twins I love it and wonder if I'll be missing out on something.

If it doesnt happen before im 30 then we wont. We dont want to be older parents. I see ppl in their 50s chasing these lil kids and its like holy $hit what happens when this kid is a teenager...you wont have the energy to deal

im so the opposite... i cant wait to have babies! If it were up to me i'd have them NOW. I totally know what you mean about society pressuring people to have kids, though... its like you get married and everyone just waits for you to announce your preggers... I totally respect your decision... from someone who is a nanny and previously has worked in a daycare I can tell you kids are NOT for everyone!!

We got married in April and have no desire for children. I feel like I should and that maybe there is something wrong with me because other girls have the fever. I then question if I have any motherly instinct at all. But I do take care of my dog like he is my son so maybe I do. Anyways. I plan to travel, excel in my caeer (When I get a job- been laid off since July) and just enjoy married life sans children.

We're not planning on any for about 5 years...IF we have any. That's a big 'if'.
In 5 years I'll be 33 and FH will be 35, so for both of us, that's the cutoff for popping out any.
We still have a lot to do before we have children. We don't live together yet, we haven't done extensive travel, and lord knows I don't have enough Pearl Jam shows under my belt to happily give up that lifestyle anytime soon.

I have so much respect for you. There are so many people out there that don't want be parents but are because of pressure from friends, family and society. Up until 2 years ago I definitely did not want children but have since changed my mind. I now can't wait to be a mom.

I definitely do want kids but do NOT want to rush into anything. I'm thinking 3 to 5 years. I definitely want to climb the corporate ladder and make more money. And we definitely want to travel and FH wants to race more. My major thing on waiting is that I don't want to quit my job or put our child in daycare, so I would prefer to hire a nanny, just someone 9-5 type of thing.

Exactly. I know so many people who just had babies because of the pressure and over time, they ended up being terrible parents or people who just completely became miserable with life. FH and I could deal with parenting if I became accidentally pregnant, but I have no plans of being a mom at all. It requires serious money, time and energy to be a GOOD parent and frankly, I have no desire to raise kids without being able to provide for them financially. I read an article the other day that in these times, it takes at least $250K to be able to afford raising ONE child.
I look at my parents (I'm an only child) who barely earned minimum wage when I was born and just can't fathom how they managed to raise me and sacrifice so much to give me the things and upbrining I needed (they never took vacations, always shared a beat up 10 year old car, shopped at thrift stores, etc) and FH and I do not want to deal with that lifestyle.

i dont want a child but fh really wants one so i guess i will do it for him
i have no idea when he wants to start. ill be 5months shy of 35 when we tie the knot. hope its soon or else we will just have to be fine with a house full of shih tuzs
