Any Brides Not Planning to have BABIES when Married?

We definitely want to have kids, but we definitely want to wait a little while, at least 3 years so we have time to travel and enjoy each other before the little devils arrive. We both absolutely love children and cannot wait to have them, but we have close friends who as of right now are choosing not to and thats totally fine too.

You are not alone on this issue! FH are I are DEAD SET AGAINST KIDS! We are too much into us to share what we have with kids. I think it's smart to know this prior to having kids. Too many people have kids, than don't care for them properly because they are just too busy with life. You need to give up everything for you kids. If you're not ready, willing & able to do so .DON'T HAVE KIDS!
Koodoos to the two of you & stick to your guns. When the families find out about this dissision..........everyone will have to put in their two cents!

i dont want a child but fh really wants one
so i guess i will do it for him

i have no idea when he wants to start.
ill be 5months shy of 35 when we tie the knot.
hope its soon or else we will just have to be fine with a house full of shih tuzs

I love how most FH's say they want kids 100%. maybe that's cuz they don't physically have to have them.

im so the opposite... i cant wait to have babies! If it were up to me i'd have them NOW. I totally know what you mean about society pressuring people to have kids, though... its like you get married and everyone just waits for you to announce your preggers... I totally respect your decision... from someone who is a nanny and previously has worked in a daycare I can tell you kids are NOT for everyone!!

ITA. Thankfully, FMIL already knows FH has no desire for kids and I've told my parents that I still remain very much 'anti-kids' even after marriage. Some of my friends joke 'aww you will pop one out anyway!'..but they are so wrong. I refuse to run around little ttoddlers when I am 36 years old. I am already 33 and wouldn't be surprised if half my eggs are rotten by now!!!

One of my law school friends got married at age 28 and got pregnant on the honeymoon (she wanted a big family). Turns out she and FH only budgeted for 1 child and she got preggers with TWINS!!

Then a year later discovererd that 1 of her kids has Fragile X syndrome (a form of autism). so now she is a stay at home and FH is barely able to afford paying bills on his salary..They have massive student loans and live in a tiny 1 bedroom basement apt in Staten Island.

I just look at them and go 'ohh god not for me!!!'.

I am so relieved to see this.

I will be a Step Mother of two and very very happy about that..
I won't be having any kids of my own (unless by accident but doubt it).

People look at me like I have two A's on my chest.

1) for being selfish (when I am just REALISTIC).

2) for loving my steps like my own (not where I take over as their Mom, I know they have one, but doing so much and giving up so much for them).

I want kids. I want a lot of kids... But I'm already almost 32 and we just got engaged....

So hopefully we can have at least 2 (even though ideally, I'd love 3 or 4 or more)... Financially is another thing, however....

My sister has 2 kids and they are hard to handle -- but then again, she got almost NONE of the motherly instinct and I think I ended up with almost double (took her share in the kitchen too ! ) I always say I've been a 'mom' since I was a kid... In fact, when you asked me when I was a kid what I wanted to be when I grew up, I'd answer 'a mom'....

Hopefully, I'll be able to have kids of my own...

We are definately not planning on having any children. I will be 42 (one month shy) when we get married and technically, I still can have children..but I do already have an almost 19 year old and the thought of tying myself down for another 21 years is out of the question. Luckily, FH does not want any children, even though he does not have any right now. We knew this about eachother since we met.

We were kinda annoyed when we went to PreCana because they kept shoving the idea of having children down our throats. FH was more annoyed than I, because I understand that the idea of marriage, in the churches eyes, is to procreate...but it is annoying when people automatically assume because you are getting married..you want to have children. I dont think most people get that you can also get married because you want to make you union and your committment to eachother official.
