Any brides out there have FH's that work for LIRR???

Any brides out there have FH's that work for LIRR???

If so, will you be going on to his medical/dental plan? I left my old job 2 months ago and FH said don't take COBRA because i can go onto his medical. Does anyone know if I can go on it if I show them our marriage license? Or do they need the actual certificate?

My step dad just retired from LIRR. He was an engineer for 35 years. I know that their medical and dental plan is very good. I will ask him later today what the procedure is.

i'll be on his medical - but most likely not dental. not sure if my dentist accepts my insurance

are you gonna wait until after the wedding to go on? i want to go on now and show them our marriage license...do you think that's acceptable to them?

since technically you are already married, you can show them the license. we don't have the license yet, cant get it until july, so we will most likely wait until after the wedding

why not have alex call HR and see what they say?

DH does not work for LIRR but the company that administers his health insurance would not accept our license until we were married. In the meantime, I was paying $400 a month for my health insurance.

I work in the Hr dept. You can not go onto his medical until you have officially been married. You will be effective from the date of your wedding even though you won't have your actual certificate. I hope this information helps you out. You should have taken the cobra for the few months. Maybe you can still have it. I would contact my old company and see if they can reinstate it. I think you have 90 days from your temination date.

thanks for the info. but i think i'll just wait another 40 days to my wedding and save myself the $300 a month for cobra.
