Any brides pass on the video??

Any brides pass on the video??

Unfortunately, it looks like my budget wont allow me to get a videographer. My FH says its not that important but I always had this vision of my children at least being able to see the video one day. For brides who had a video done, do you really watch it that often? And for those who opted out of video, do you regret it?

My cousin lent us her video camera, we bought a few blank DVDs, and we had a bunch of people offer to videotape for us. It worked out great! It's not professional quality, but we didn't care about that.

Our budget didn't allow for it and FH absolutely REFUSED to have a professional videographer (he didn't want someone 'in his face' all night with the camera ) Anyway, his brother has a video camera and so does one of my BM's husbands. So we are going to be taping it that way. At least we'll have SOMETHING!

Video is not in my budget, but I do have a neighbor in college whose majoring in film so I plan on having her do it for me. Honestly, if you have a family member or friend with a camcorder who is willing to film it, I think that is enough. It's nice to have something to remember the day by, to be able to watch your ceremony and to actually see your guests dancing and having a great time, but I don't think it really has to be professionally edited or anything like that. I don't mind that mine won't be anyway.

I absolutely do NOT want a videographer and neither does FH. Despite everyone feeling the need to tell us we'll regret it, we aren't having one. (And I filmed weddings professionally for a long time, too!)

Do what YOU want and can afford. Neither of my brothers and none of my cousins had videographers and none regrets it.

if it's something you really want, i think u can think of something that will fit in ur budget......Patken actually has AWESOME prices for video - and u don't have to pay the entire thing untill u actually pick up your video AFTER the wedding. If it was a personel choice and u really didn't care then i would say don't worry about it....but u seem a little leary....which can lead to regret! If it's a thought in ur mind, i dont think u should just forget about it. me personally, couldn't imagine NOT having one (but to each is own!).....check out patken....and if it's still out of budget i'm sure u'll have a family member or friend who'll video

I'm not having video, I really didn't want it. As long as I have great pictures, that's all I'll need. A few friends had it and they haven't watched it beyond watching it the first time they got i. It's sitting on their shelves. Everyone has different ideas though. If you really want it, I would ask a friend with a video camera to help you out.

No video for us either. Honestly, knowing us, we will watch it once and then it will collect dust among all of the other DVD's that this has happened to. I just cant justify spending lots of money that I don't have on something that neither of us really wants anyway. I think that for me, the pictures will be enough.

I am not getting a video, nor do I want one. We're having a small dinner reception, so it would be kind of intrusive. I hope someone tapes the ceremony though.

we just had my friends dad tape it for us. it worked out GREAT! he came to the rehearsal dinner and everythign to figure out where to stand during the ceremony, etc.... AND he put them on DVD for us with scene selection and everything! so we can watch just the cermeony, or just the reception.... we REALLY lucked out because he is very religious and not into dancing or drinking, so taping at the reception didn't 'ruin' his time.
i think you should at least have somebody video tape it for you... its so neat to be able to go back and watch everything. at the end of the wedding, DH and i were in the hotel like ' what just happened?!?' the whole day went by so fast and was such a blur- so we are really glad we have to video to watch, and remember what the officiant said during the ceremony, hear the best mans speech, see everybody dancing...
i would say maybe even buy a camcorder for a couple hundred bucks and have somebody tape it for you- THEN, you'll have the camcorder to take on your honeymoon and for all the other stuff after you're married

I couldn't afford the big edited video so I asked photographers if they could do unedited videos of just the ceremony (I have no desire to see my 2 left feet dancing at the reception anyway). The ceremony is all I want to show my future children anyway. All the photographers I asked said they could do it and the going rate was about $800. I'm very happy with my decision to do it this way, and down the road if I want to get it edited, I can always do that.

I wasn't sure about the video, but anyone I talked to that didn't get it said it was their biggest regret so now I'm definitly doing it. You can only get so much out of pictures. I'd order less pictures and get the video if I had to.

I am not getting video either. FH and I feel like videographers at every wedding we have been to are intrusive. We decided to splurge on a really good photo package instead.

We aren't getting a video either. It isn't something either of us want. We're picture people, so we splurged instead. I don't have any desire whatsoever for a video.

I am not getting the video, but I am contemplating asking a family friend to videotape the ceremony since that is the part that really matters in the long run

This is what we are doing too, just having our family and friends shoot. All I really want to see is the BP walk down the aisle since I'll miss that, everything else I'm not concerned with. For us what we would be getting for what they were asking just didn't seem worth it and we found most if not all of the demos really boring

wow....I was wondering this also. I was going to do it but these answers are really making me wonder if its worth it now. I really just wanted the ceremony and speeches..I wonder if a friend can do it for us?
