Any brides pass on the video??

Original post by Butterfly123

Unfortunately, it looks like my budget wont allow me to get a videographer. My FH says its not that important but I always had this vision of my children at least being able to see the video one day. For brides who had a video done, do you really watch it that often? And for those who opted out of video, do you regret it?

YES... get a video! We have watched ours 100's of times and my family and friends still ask to watch it when they come over (wedding was a year ago)!!! Pictures are great obviously but there's nothing like a video, IMO. Even if you can have someone do it with their own personal video camera, it will be worth it.

I'd say don't worry about the video. I'm not having one either because I'd rather have a band than a DJ and would rather have great pictures (I LOVE pictures!). Also, all my friends who did have video watched it a few times the first month or so and haven't watched it since. I'm sure 20 years from now it would be really nice to be able to look back and show everyone the video, but I don't think that's something a friend with a handycam can't do for you.

i wasn't going to get a video either but.....
we found a couple of places that will do it as low as 800 dollars. we put so much thought and effort into this day, i think its worth it to have everything on video so we could relive the day anytime

We're not. It wasn't in the budget & neither of us have a burning desire to have a videographer anyways.

I never wanted a video, and my FH agreed that it wasn't really important to him. I'm a photographer, so photos are my thing. And I'm so self conscious of myself when someone is video-taping me, and I think that would ruin my day b/c I'd be worried about it and hiding from the video guy all day!!!

I don't think you will miss it if you don't do video. Both my cousins skipped the video and they told me to also. I however, am NOT skipping it because, when I started planning the wedding I was asking people about their wedding and what I heard most often was 'i don't remember' or 'it's all a blur'. I decided with all the planing I was doing, I wanted to remember. So we booked video despite my cousins recommendations. It's all personal preference really.

I agree!! My one girlfriend loves her video b/c her 3 y.o daughter loves to watch her & Daddy getting married. My other friend has a more updated video (DVD) and it's awesome!! I watched it about 4 times & it wasn't even my wedding. To me-that's the only thing that can really bring you back to the day. It was more important than pics to us.
