My Father passed away, so I will be dancing with both of my brothers.

Have to come up with a good song also.

Same here. I am dancing with both of my brothers, so I am trying to come up with a good song.

I'm dancing with my dad, but I am having 'He Didn't Have To Be' by Brad Paisley played as a tribute to FH, who is my oldest son's stepfather.

When a single mom goes out on a date with somebody new
It always winds up feeling more like a job interview
My momma used to wonder if she'd ever meet someone
Who wouldn't find out about me and then turn around and run

I met the man i call my dad when i was five years old
He took my mom out to a movie and for once i got to go
A few months later i remember lying there in bed
I overheard him pop the question and prayed that she'd say yes

And then all of a sudden
Oh, it seemed so strange to me
How we went from something's missing
To a family
Lookin' back all i can say
About all the things he did for me
Is i hope i'm at least half the dad
That he didn't have to be

I met the girl that's now my wife about three years ago
We had the perfect marriage but we wanted somethin' more
Now here i stand surrounded by our family and friends
Crowded 'round the nursery window as they bring the baby in

And now all of a sudden
It seemed so strange to me
How we've gone from something's missing
To a family
Lookin' through the glass i think about the man
That's standin' next to me
And i hope i'm at least half the dad
That he didn't have to be

Lookin' back all i can say
About all the things he did for me
Is i hope i'm at least half the dad
That he didn't have to be

Yeah, i hope i'm at least half the dad
That he didn't have to be
Because he didn't have to be
You know he didn't have to be

I am dancing with someone who became like my adoptive dad. It has been very hard to find a perfect song for us to dance to. My real father exited my life when i was 14 and this man stepped in (he was actually my boss for 10 years and i lived with him & his wife and kids the last 5 of those years... i helped take care of his kids too).

So i've narrowed down my choices to:

-Father & Daughter by Paul Simon
The Lyrics:

If you leap awake
In the mirror of a bad dream
And for a fraction of a second
You can't remember where you are
Just open your window
And follow your memory upstream
To the meadow in the mountain
Where we counted every falling star

I believe a light that shines on you
Will shine on you forever
And though I cant guarantee
There's nothing scary hiding under your bed
I'm gonna stand guard like a postcard
At the Golden Retriever
And never leave till I leave you
With a sweet dream in your bed

Chorus:
I'm gonna watch you shine
Gonna watch you grow
Gonna paint a sign
So you'll always know
As long as one and one is two wooo
There could never be a father who loved
His daughter more than I love you

Trust your intuition
It's just like goin fishin'
You cast your line and hope you get a bite
You don't need to waste your time
Worryin' about the market place
Trying to help the human race
Strugglin to survive its harshest hour

chorus
x2

-Lullabye by Billy Joel
Lyrics:

Goodnight, my angel
Time to close your eyes
And save these questions for another day
I think I know what you've been asking me
I think you know what I've been trying to say
I promised I would never leave you
And you should always know
Wherever you may go
No matter where you are
I never will be far away

Goodnight, my angel
Now it's time to sleep
And still so many things I want to say
Remember all the songs you sang for me
WHen we went sailing on an emerald bay
ANd like a boat out on the ocean
I'm rocking you to sleep
THe water's dark
And deep inside this ancient heart
You'll always be a part of me

Goodnight, my angel
Now it's time to dream
And dream how wonderful your life will be
Someday your child may cry
And if you sing this lullabye
Then in your heart
There will always be a part of me

Someday we'll all be gone
But lullabyes go on and on...
They never die
That's how you
And I
Will be

**I like the first song and here's why: i LOVE the line... 'There could never be a father who loved
His daughter more than I love you' because if i ever could have picked my real father (you know how they say you can't pick your family)... well i would have picked this man because he loves me as if i was his even though he didn't have to. His heart is just that big and even if i was his real daughter, i don't think he would have loved me any differently than he already does. Does that make sense?

What are you thinking of?

i am planning on dancing with 3 of my brothers...i wasn't sure about the song though either. i don't want it to be mushy bc we aren't very close. i am considering 'you've got a friend in me'.
