I'm baking a cake for joshs birthday... i do this very rarely...
i bought the things to write with on top of the cake, but the last time i did it it looked like a kindergartner wrote it with their toes, so is there a special way to make it look legible?

Re: any cake bakers? i need help.
I would say go to Michaels or AC Moore and get a #1 tip since its super thin but it's probably too late. Practice on a sheet of paper first! Good luck!

Hold the icing thing like a pencil/pen, it makes it easier to write. Also, I helps me when I use my left hand to hold the wrist of my right hand.

PRACTICE. If you buy a cake decorators beginner kit it will give you the piping bags, the tips and sheets to practice on. Practice over the letters and learn how to control. Also the trick is don't squeeze the bag to hard, you have to keep it steady. It takes some practice, i won't lie.

i agree....then take a piece of wax paper and practice a few times before actually writing on the cake.
