Any Churches that don't make you do pre-caana, counseling, etc??

Any Churches that don't make you do pre-caana, counseling, etc??

My fiance is in London and we will literally see one another maybe 3 times before we get married in February. ARe there any churches that do not make you do pre-caana or some time of counseling? We would like to get married in a church rather than on-site at a reception hall.

Any ideas??

BTW: I'm not leaving this for the last minute, we just got engaged sept. 20. We just want to get married quickly because of the distance thing!

try a protestant church....usually you only have to meet once or twice...

the more liberal would be presbyterian and congregational

I am thinking the only thing you could do is get married at the reception hall...

I know someone who got married in a church and didn't do pre-cana. You should meet with the priest and explain the situation.

Best thing would be to talk to the pastor or priest at the Church you would like to marry at and see what he says. Or call the Diocese (if you live on LI it's 516-678-5800) and ask who to talk to about Pre CAna and then tell them your situation and see what they can do for you. I don't know the Brooklyn Diocese (they cover Bklyn and Qns) # sorry.

there are engaged encounter weekends,.. only require 1 weekend..

A LUTHERAN CHURCH DOES NOT REUIRE PRE CANA HOWEVER YOU DO NEED TO TALK TO THE PASTOR EXPLAIN THE CIRCUMSTANCES.

try a lutheran or unitarian church - no episcopal, catholic, or presbyterian church will marry you without pre counseling

ETS: what about a non-denominational chapel? My friends were married in the chapel at the university where they met with no pre counseling required.

oh...forgot about unitarian...


but presbyterians will do this for you as well...they are really on the opposite end of the spectrum from catholic and episcopalian, but I am sure that it differs by each individual church

UNITED METHODIST CHURCHES!!!!!!!!! They let you use their pastor if you dont have one, and they have REALLY pretty churches... Explain your situation.. Good Luck!
