Any family member having a problem with a ceremonial aspect of the wedding?
For example, my mom is not to thrilled about the Candle Lighting ceremony. She'll do it but she is definitely letting me know that she does not like the idea.
She never heard of it and said to me: You and your american customs?
Not really sure what she meant by that. Is anyone having a siilar problem?

I'm sure FMIL has a lot to say about her Presbyterian son having a mostly Jewish wedding and being married by a Rabbi....but she can shove it up her Ohio asssss.

FMIL doesn't know anything about it; if she did, she would have a problem, that's for sure.
But since she doesn't know and lost her priviledge to information about our wedding a LONG time ago (and I told her that), she has no problems with it.

my mom is VERY surprised at how religious I want the ceremony to be. actually most ppl are very surprised and FSIL had something to say about it, knowing nothing about it of course
who cares honestly? I just said to all who had something to say about it 'that is how I want it' that was the end of that convo

I just got back from Peru 2 weeks ago!!
My FMIL made a comment about my first dance being in Spanish. She asked if my dad spoke English and I said yes..so she asked why if he wanted a spanish song. Actually, it was me.

Not really a problem but my sister made fun of me and my 'hippie' wedding because we're doing a sand ceremony!!

FH is Italian and I feel like his family we say the same, but I also want my family to have a good time. I can't forget my culture.

For this reason Im not telling either parents about the ceremony part, they will see whats going on when everyone else will. It might be rude but Its my vows I'll be as witchy, hippy, religous, crazy as FH will let me ! Less they know the less some people know- the better
