Hi all, Just wondering if there are any other February '08 Brides out there. My wedding date is 2-16 at the Timber Point (which I am actually now getting nervous about after reading some posts about how small the cocktail hour room is.When I visited there was a wedding going on so I wasn't able to see the cocktail room . ) I live in Westchester but grew up out on the island and wanted to have my reception there. Any ideas of color scheme's ? Is red a bad idea since V-day is 2 days before ? Thanks

Yeah - I love winter weddings. Our date is 2-23-08 at the Fox hollow.
We are doing all black and white with red flowers - black magic roses for me and two-tone red and white roses for the bridal party.
I am going for a deeper red, more of a cranberry than the bright red.
That might be a good idea for u, if you want to avoid looking to 'valentines-day-ish'.
I can't wait! Feb seems so far away sometimes :(

The Febraury 2007 brides had a thread. We posted lots of ideas on there... do a search and it should come up.
also, do a search under the brides review... many of us did reviews that might give you some ideas.

I'm getting married 2/22/08. Navy is my main color. I have dark green and ivory as small accent colors. I think the flowers are going to be ivory and light dusty rose with dark green leaves.
I'm excited to hear about other February brides!

I'm getting married the day before you! My BMs are wearing black and white....I tried to stay away from red since I didn't want a Valentine's theme...but that's up to you! Good luck and congrats!

DATE TWIN!!! YEAH!! i'm also 2/16/08!! Crest Hollow Country Club and I'm SOOOOO EXCITED!! fh and i are on vacation now.. well semi vacation. i'm at a business conference at disney world so he's with me and tomorrow we're going on a cruise.. so my plans have been stalled till i get back... but congrats and yEah!! i have a date twin!!
oops i didn't bother to read far enough into your post to see u'r question.. yep.. we also considered doing red since we were so close to Vday.. but then we didn't want 'red' ...too cliche u knkow.. and our room doesn't lend itself to having too much of a variety cause u wind up clashing with the walls and what nots.. so we're going with a wine and gold.. ..so it's of the red tones.. but not that vibrant red of vday.. it's a richer warmer color..
i think my bridesmaids are going to wear gold though..

I will probably be a February bride! Both FH and I are teachers, so we want to do it before the Feb break. Date will probably be February 17.
Haven't picked a place, though. Possible places are Thatched Cottage, Flowerfields, and Coindre Hall. Carlyle on The Green is nice too.

i'm a teacher also.. (hence the 2/16 date..) sat before the winter break.. folks can come to the wedding and still fly out to wherever warm for that winter break vacation!!

Cool! I actually looked at Crest Hollow and it is also in the running. It was very nice and the price was very reasonable for February! Did you try the food?

Almost....I am an early March bride
I think Red is a great idea, you shouldnt shy away from it bc V-day is a couple days before, not at all. Its a great color for that time of the year.

Another February bride here! You're getting married the day before us!
We incorporated the V-Day colors in our flowers. The girls are wearing charcoal grey dresses, but the flowers are red and shades of purple ( I loooove purple). There are also some red berries in the bo-k's. I'm not a huge fan of red, so I figured I'd break it up with the purple.

Im a february Bride too. Im getting married on the 24 at JT My colors are sky blue/ platinum and white. Im keeping it very simple and using swarovski crystals to accent certain things.
For winter weddings those are the most common colors. Alot of girls do snowflakes wich ends up being blue with white decorations.
The red sounds nice for your wedding although valentines day has passed you are still in the same month. plus if you like the color and it compliments all your other ideas then its good.

I am getting married on 2/29/08 at Jericho Terrace. My colors are brown, green, and ivory.
i had orignally thought about using a deep purple, like a plum and cranberry colors. But ended up with the brown and green as the main colors.

HI...I'm also a Feb bride 2/23/08. My colors are going to be a peacock bluish dress(pic in album) with purple, blue, & white flowers.

yes we did!! loved it! and i've also been to a couple of business luncheons there and thought the food was fabulous!! one of the things i'm loving bout chcc right now is that they are soo cooperative with my neurotic self.. we booked in may and so far we have change the date twice and the room three times.. and every time my poor fh goes in there to change something.. they just smile and say okay.. what does she want today!

just wnted to add the price ws SUPER reasonable for feb with a ton of stuff thrown in.. we're very VERY Pleased.. and excited!!
