we dont really plan on telling anyone. but i loose my med benifits in may b/c ill be 23 (im still under my parents) and im sitting for my LPN boards in may and its a hassle to change my name on them once i get married (so i hear) so we figured WHY NOT?!? since we'll be married 2 months later anyway! FH is so excited cuz i told him we could wear Jets Jerseys!

ETA: As of right now we will be getting married on our 5 year anniversary 4/17/08

HOnestly its a real hassel if u get dropped from ur insurance, its much better to carry it over right away, and getting married in april is pretty smart, I know it takes at least a month for the new insurance to go through.
There are all these rules when u have no insurance for a while then go back on a plan.
Most companies do not want to see any lapse in coverage!!!!

But its sooooooooooooooooo exciting!!!!

FH and I were supposed to do that too! It would have made SO MUCH SENSE. FH pays like $600 a month for insurance since he has his own business $600 a month for our two year engagement would have been a HUGE savings - but we are lazy and just never did it

anyway - its going to be like your little secret! very cool

we were just worried about how that would work with taxes and such - would you have to file together?

and the church should have no problem with it - i bet it doesnt change anything except you won't have a license to sign AT the ceremony.

thanks girls!!! im really just worried about being uninsured since ihave quite a few medical problems and am prone to accidents so i dont want to be on our honeymoon and god forbid something happens and i dont have insurance! so we figure why not! we will be living together by then anyway. we just need to find ourselves a witness!

Even when you are married, you do not have to file taxes together.... Already found this out from our accountant...

Re: any girls already married???

me and FH are doing this exactly one year from our real wedding, because I'm a student with no insurance and he works for the government soo he has really good insurance. But the real reason why we are doing it is because his church is near AC so we obviously can't get married down there since our reception is up in clifton, so we are going to have the his church ceremony this july 07, and have the ceremony next year at our hall since it has all these waterfalls and pretty stuff lol .. but i'm soo excited for you!! and the jets jersey idea is soo cute!!

we talked about this but we're still not sure, if we do we already agreed we are not telling anyone! Too many people can find the info on this board so it's going to be very top secret

wow megan!! i cant beleive that.. that is so exciting.

Honestly i would love to just get married right now and screw all the planning, (even though i want to do the whole church thing) but we will just wait

thankfully FH and I both have really good ins. so we dont have to worry about this. if we were to get married before, we would stillbe living seperatly and that would just stink!

GL!!

FH & I have talked about getting married this year - secretly of course... and then having the church ceremony and wedding as planned in '08

But I'm worried the church will have a problem with this, and our families might find out because of this. Would the Catholic church have issues with this?

we looked into this, supposedly the church is ok with it because when you get married by the court, you are not married in the church's eyes

That is so exciting. I don't think it should be a problem to get married in the church then after.

I think that is great. I dont see why you cant do what you want. Its the fact you are getting married in the church that the catholic church cares about. Good luck

You are very smart to do this because insurance companies can be so difficult. In this day in age it's hard enough to get things covered when you ARE insured why make it even worse to not be insured at all. It's very dangerous to not be covered because you never know when an illness might occur!
