Any girls go home after reception?

Any girls go home after reception?

I've only been thinking about staying at a hotel after the reception but then it came aross to me that it could be a decent savings by going home with DH after the reception. The room will probally be 150 and upwards or possibly even more because the night before Im getting a suite for me and the bms and was planning on just keeping the same room for me and Dh for the next night. We are only going to be there for a couple of hours and then have to take a cab home the next morning which could be around 40-50 since its from Nassau to Queens.

Thing is- I want our wedding night to be somewhat special (even though well probally be exhausted anyway) and I just dont want it to be a killjoy by going home to our 'normal' bed.

What do you girls think? For all that I saved on things I wanted...it might be silly to spend 250+ on something that is not necessary but i dont know??

I was thinking the same thing. We haven't discussed it yet though. At first we were saying we'd let his relatives stay at our place to save $ while we went to a hotel close to the airport. But now I'm like, well we need to save money too. Why should we go to a hotel that night when we'll be spending so much the next nights on the honeymoon?

3 of my closest friends went home after the reception and said it was the best decision to sleep in their own bed and it was special bc it was the first night as hubby n wife....

Do you already have rooms blocked at that hotel for other guest? Try to negotiate that they throw in a room for free for you...

We went home, and passed out until 1pm the following day. It made no sense for us, we've lived together for years and a night in a hotel would just be waisting money to sleep when we have a home we could do that at.
We were toooooo tired.

no net yet...I had thought of that but I am going to have hardly anyone staying in the block, maybe 2 or 3 rooms (I wont even be getting a special rate for them...just able to block the rooms) so I really doubt they would throw it in for me but it cant hurt to ask.

Us too, we dont live together and I feel that staying in our apt would be so much more special. Also I am super cheap and I just think it is a waste of money. But my sister did something special and rented a room in NYC, which when will that ever happen again??
So Iam 50/50

thats sooo funny you are asking about going home after the reception because the whole ride to a vendor today with FH i was asking him the same question about what we should do. I feel the same way you do. We do not live together and we will not be until we are married (strict italian parent rules) but its totally cool by me because i love that part of our lives still being a completely new experience...so i felt that after my hugeeee day of like 12 hours non-stop with makeup hair dress, photos at house, ceremony, photos at RH,cocktail hour, mingling with all your guests, non stop dancing OMGGG your gonna be exhausted..lol are you even going to be enjoying the hotel room? probably not and i am thinking about how i am and since i know i sleep horrible in hotels as well and we r gonna be so tired all we are gonna wanna do is sleep..i think the first night in either our apartment or house (w/e we could afford at that point) will be really special and exciting....PLUS in like a day or two you are going on prob a week or more honeymoon so i would prob save yourself the money and maybe use it for some shopping while your away on the HM lol

We were lucky enough to win a hotel stay otherwise we were coming home. Nothing wrong with coming home and saving the dough.

Plan something special for when you get home and set rules, such as no Blackberries, no TV, no phone, no pets. Leave your bed with new sheets, covered with petals and have your tub ready to go or plan to take a hot shower together. Ask your bridesmaids or a good friend to help you out with 'setting up' the house while you get ready for the wedding. Make sure to use lots of candles, place them high if you feel self-conscious. (It gives a dramatic glow without completely illuminating you or go for illumination if that's your game!)

Re: Any girls go home after reception?

I didn't go home after but yeah if you only stay one night, by the time you wake up its just about time for check out. We had a late reception, ended at 1:30am and we left RH around 2am or even a bit after. After the wedding we stayed at a hotel in the city and by the time we got in, checked in and all that it was close to 3am. We woke up late the next day so if we wouldve stayed just one night then all we wouldve really done is sleep, wake up and leave right away the next day. We left for our HM 5 days after wedding (we went to 2locations and i made sure we were at both locations during a weekend so thats why we left 5 days later) so bc of that we stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. Thats what made it worth it to me. We actually hung out in the hotel room, we even went out to dinner in the city the next night and got to enjoy the next night in the room. But if you want to go home after then i say go for it if your plan was to only spend a night in the hotel. In my situation we felt it was worth it but like i said we stayed 2 nights.

If this is something you want, then do whatever makes you both happy.

I am in this dilema as well. I have quite a bit of family coming up from FL and they all need a place to sleep so my FH and I have decided to lend them our house and some of them will be staying in my mom's and sisters houses as well. I think that maybe as a suprise I will book a hotel for us for that night so that it is more special than coming home to a houseload of people!

Im so glad somebody finally wrote this cause i have been thinking the same thing, why wast the money, and we will hardle be in the room, not to mention getting transportation from rh to hotel. Then another part of me was thinking to go out to montauk or nyc since that would be special for our night, im still tossed. We don't leave togeather and for our e party we stayed in a hotel the night and we had a lot of fun, so like i said i'm tossed.

this is a very good point to bring up. I never thought about this. Now you've got me thinking.

we had a limo take us from RH in LI to hotel in the city, and it was free actually. When you book limo's for your wedding, most limo companies throw in a complimentary limo for pick up at the end of the night, either to take you to airport or hotel or wherever.

Re: Any girls go home after reception?

We just completely remodeled our entire house and we didn't even think about going to a hotel afterwards. The way I figure it, we'll be starting our lives by spending our first night as husband and wife in 'our' home. I'm actually looking forward to it! We'll be going to Hawaii and spending 10 nights in a hotel so we figure why bother! I love our home, there's no where else I'd rather spend our first night!!

We went to a hotel and wished we hadn't. By the time we got into our room it was after 4am, and than we had to get up early for check out. We would have been much happier at home.
