Any girls having church ceremony w/ mass...HELP!!!

Hi!

My mom is lucky to have both my sister and I getting married within 3 months of each other. My FH and I are doing a non-traditional wedding, but my sister is doing the Catholic Mass church ceremony.

Can my mom wear a Strapless gown to the church??? She found the gown she absolutely loves, but just found out they are doing the big Mass and doesn't want to look inappropriate.

If she wears a strapless gown, should be get her a bolero jacket or just use a shawl...any ideas or feedback would be well advised!! She is really unsure how to proceed from here.

Thanks!

It depends on your parish. My parish is pretty liberal and they don't care, but I know a friend who got married elsewhere and they made her wear a wrap for the ceremony. Its best to check w/the rectory.

I think she would be fine either way unless it's a really strict church. A shawl might be good if the weather turns out to be not so great though.

I would have her just get a bolero or a shawl. Either one is fine.

It honestly doesn't matter that much anymore. So many brides and bridesmaids wear strapless gown in church now, it doesn't make a difference.

I don't think it matters, plus I doubt anyone will be running around telling the MOB to cover up that day!

i think a shawl would be just fine. my sister had a mass at her wedding and i am sure that some people wore strapless dresses with shawls
