I'm just wondering if there are any girls currently in school? Are you graduating before or after your wedding? If before what are your plans (if any) regarding looking for a new job? I graduate from my MA program in May and I'm not sure if I should start looking for a job soon as i graduate or wait till after the wedding? I'm just concerned about not having vacation time for the honeymoon.

Yes, Yes, and none - I've got the job I want right now, they hired me knowing that I would be finishing the degree soon, so I am all set (thank fully)... Planning on asking them to pay for my masters though!

Well, I am in school currently but I will not be graduating till after I am married. I don't know what advice to give to you...I think it depends on the profession some work places will still allow you to take your HM because you have given them the notice when you were being interviewed...

If you get a new job just tell them you booked your honeymoon for dates x - y and are willing to take the time as unpaid if you haven't accrued the days yet.

Agreed. Especially if you feel confidant about the job and your role. I took a 10 day unpaid vacation 3 weeks after my start here... it worked out because I was still in 'training' period anyway

Re: Any Girls in School?
I am in my fourth year of medical school and I graduate 5 days before my wedding!
wooo hoooo!!
ETA: I will be starting my internship in July... I don't really have a choice about when I start. I think it will be nice to have at least a month off before starting though..

Re: Any Girls in School?
I'm working on my master's right now....very slowly. I work per diem right now at 2 hospitals, usually about 20 hrs a week and have an 8 month old. My life is completely chaotic right now and I will def. not be graduating until wayyy after the wedding. I'm doing it one class at a time for now. After its over I will look for a job immediately.

i'm in school right now - this is my last semester, thank god!
i'm going to start looking for another job in november, but since i already have one, i feel like i can be more selective and take my time looking. if i find something that pays what i'm looking for, i'll def take it. otherwise, i might just stay put until after the wedding.

Re: Any Girls in School?
I am in graduate school and will graduate in August after student teaching. I am a teacher already so I will start to look for a job at the end of this year in a public school. I right now work in a Catholic school and even though I love it I need more money. We haven't gotten a raise in 2 years and its just time I moved on.

He is, because he will have his masters and will want more $$$$ being licensed... I prob wont. We both actually work for the same agency now and they will most likely give me a new position based on my new certification, so i hope not to have to leave!

Re: Any Girls in School?
i am in school but am currently on my pre-doctoral internship, which thankfully is my last year. . but it doesn't end until august (a few weeks after my wedding) so i am saving all my vacation/sick days for the wedding honeymoon...
i think it all depends on what your job would be, how soon you think you would be able to get one after applying, and how well you handle stress

School is actually the major reason why I'm getting married in 2012 rather than 2011. My wedding is May 2012 and I'll finish my PhD by Sept 2012 (depending on how long it takes me to write my thesis). I'll definitely be looking for a job before the wedding. I think it depends on how the hiring cycle works in your industry though.
are you planning on taking your FH's name? i am in a doctoral program and will finish up around the time of my wedding and it is the biggest fiasco trying to figure out the name thing. I always thought i would take my husband's name when i got married and really want to in the personal side of my life, but am unsure about what to do professionally bc i will be published before i am married... are you having any similar dillemas?
