Any good exercises for toning up?

Original post by Future Mulligan

what are some good lower body exercises?

i need to tone up the a$$, thighs, and especially my calves! i have no calf muscles at all so i REALLY need exercises for them - FH teases me that i have cankles! he says im the tiniest girl he knows and i have skinny cankles

im just excited b/c im finally able to go back to the gym!! i always do about 30-45 mins of cardio but i need some exercises for toning - i got my shower approaching, then the wedding, and then the HM so i got to get a move on things!

any exercises that you swear by?

aw thanks girls.. its at LA Fitness. The class is called Body Works, I usually do it 2x/week. its great. I started really busting my a$$ right at Thanksgiving (exactly 1 yr prior to wedding). then run or or kickboxing another 2 nights. the class works EVERY muscle group. so many squats and lunges, and all arms. the last 15 mins are abs.

I've been going to LA Fitness for years but never tried any of the classes... I think you just motivated me to try some out! Which one do you go to, Lake Success or Farmingdale?

Okay here is my deal. I was always a skinny minnie but never toned (less than 110 lbs)

After the wedding I gained 15 lbs I started the 30 day shred two weeks ago and for the first time in my whole life i actually have muscle definition in my arms ( from the pushups and the light weight exercises ) and my calves are SICK!! i CRIED the first day because of the calf exercises that she does and it took me ten minutes to go down the stairs the next day in my parking garage - i had to let these old people go past me bc iwas going so slow

so YAY for definition and it is a 25 minute work out that i have been doing 5x a week ( i lost 6 lbs ) but you are supposed to do it every day

what is the 30 day shred? i dont need to lose any weight but i DEF need toning - you know, there is such a thing as 'skinny fat' and i am totally it right now is this exercise on demand? b/c i need MAJOR help in the calf area

It's so nice to hear that other ppl have the same issue...

I've been thin my whole life (although, now, I am about 5lbs more than I'd like to be)...the prob with me is always toning.

Talk about nooo definition - I have NONE. I think it may be hereditary too, b/c my mom is exactly the same way.

It's frustrating b/c I think it could make a thin person actually look unshapely & out of shape. My dh is always like - where is your calf muscle?! lol...he kids with me but I'm like shushhh Idk...

WHAT IS THE 30 DAY SHRED W/O?

Pilates is just amazing for me. Even if I have stopped doing it for awhile, I really see a difference doing 2-3 hours of pilates a week, for 3 weeks. I take the classes at the gym though. Also gives you a nice flat tummy. And as always squats and lunges are super effective

you do get results with pilates very quickly. Thats why ive been thinking i want to lose weight by september and get in shape so i said to do this i have to do pilates again. Within just a few short weeks you see a big difference.
