Re: Any Good Places to Buy BM dresses off Rack?!

Oh Cindy I am so sorry you have to go through this!!
Try any of the department stores - is there any way you can get into the city over the weekend, you'd have more of a selection there.

Re: Any Good Places to Buy BM dresses off Rack?!

Cindy - Try Totally You in Bellmore. My mom and FMIL just both bought there dress of the rack. They might be a little pricey but give it a shot. Or else try Estelles. They have every color and every size. They are in Farmingdale on Rt. 110.

Re: Any Good Places to Buy BM dresses off Rack?!

Once we found a nice dress at Estelles for a wedding I was in and then we ordred it online so we could get all the sizes we needed. We got them in like 2 days and nobody even needed alterations other than hemms and some cups.
And honestly, it was my favorite bm dress ever!

Re: Any Good Places to Buy BM dresses off Rack?!

Ladies, I did go to Bloomies, Nordstrom, Macys & didn't find too much, esp. all the girls' sizes & no dresses in blue at all

Ann Taylor is getting their new line in, so its whatever is out in the store (the only place that carries the occasions line is in Manhattan).

But I then went to Jessica McClintock & they had many cute dresses.

I left it up to my girls, although we need an answer by 12 today.

We could order our original dresses thru another place for $350 per dress w/ rush shipping & alterations (not in until next Wed/Thurs)

or

order any of these for much cheaper, but not in original colors (order in by Tuesday)

I'm fine w/ either decision...we'll see.

Thanks so much for all your help & support ladies...not fun w/ 9 days to go

I agree with Nordstrom's. Also Bloomingdale's, Saks, and even Macy's all have things out right now that would be good. Did you get your girls' $$ back? I'm so sorry Cin!!! They'll be beautiful no matter what!

Are most of these stores at Roos. Field? Or else I was going to make a run to the L&T in Huntington.

I'm sorry you weren't able to find much at the stores. I'm happy you have choices for the girls though. It will work out! Your wedding is going to be fabulous and everyone will look beautiful...especially you!!!

Re: Any Good Places to Buy BM dresses off Rack?!

Ohhh Cin, I am so sorry you are going thru this. Did you check Estelles. It is a hit or miss store but they do have a huge selection of dresses right there in many sizes and colors. It shouldnt take you much more than 15 minutes or so to get there.

Re: Any Good Places to Buy BM dresses off Rack?!

Oh Cindy..I can't imagine this heartbreak so close. Besides your dress, this is a nightmare that every bride worries about.

You and your girls will look great.

I think your second choice of dresses is great as well...either way it will work out but I'm so sorry for this last minute stress that you don't need.

I wish I could do something to help.

Re: Any Good Places to Buy BM dresses off Rack?!

Cindy, the Jessica McClintok dresses are great! I was over in Roosevelt field the other day and they had so many choices! I am sure if they don't have all the ones in the sizes you need if you explain your situation they can call another store and get them for you!

Re: Any Good Places to Buy BM dresses off Rack?!

This is terrible. I would be going ballistic on that bridal shop. Try posting on the Vendors Helping Brides board too.

Definitely try David's Bridal - as much as their customer service sux they do have a ton of dresses in every color ready to buy and in a bunch of sizes (including maternity - if i remember the other post - one of your girls is preggo). Plus the dresses can be mixed/matched since the colors can be found in different styles.

Also try the Wedding Center, Wedding World, (the one stop shopping places -gowns/rings/shoes etc). Some have off-the rack options (i think the Wedding Center does).

Or like most other posts, try Macy's, Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor, or any other dept store.

Good Luck!

Cindy, Jcrew has lots of different style dresses (mostly tea length) in a pool blue.

I really like those.

ETA: I would think Roosevelt Field Mall would have the most choices of all. Plenty of Dept. stores.

Re: Any Good Places to Buy BM dresses off Rack?!

oh cindy! i am so sorry you are going through this.... i know someone who had a simialar scenario.

i would really suggest you hitting manhattan.

lord and taylor on 5th avenue has an entire floor of dresses alone!!

and if that doesn't work, bloomingdales, macys and saks are all within a 5 min. taxi range.

even though these department stores are on LI, the NYC locations have more stock and much more to choose from.

worst case scenario...you can do diff. shades of blue..... if you can't find one style that flatters everyone.....

you can also have all of the girls in a black dress and then get a blue jewelry accessory to wear....like a pendant on a blue ribbon around the neck.....

good luck sweetie! it will all work out!!!!!!!
