Hi There! My family is from Trinidad. My friend is DJing our wedding so I'm not help there. But I did meet with Feel the Vibe and Elegancia. I needed a DJ that could also play spanish music but these two were very familiar with soca/chutney/calypso/reggae. They didn't know much Indian music but they were open to researching or you could provide a couple of CDs. They were both very professional and reasonably priced ($1200-$1600).

Well really i dont think we have traditionally a custom at a reception. Although, we do like our soca, chutney, reggae and calypso. We also have dollar dance when guest and family member give the bride money to dance with.

My mom is Guyanese and my dad is Trinidadian so I guess I fall into both! I was thinking of having a steel pan play my bridal march as well as during the CH. DO you think that would be too much????? Also, a lot of brides have FM'd me that they paid $900 to have pan players do the CH. Is it just me or is that highway robbery??? LOL.

My DH's family is from Guyanna, and our dj, Tommy Tunes played the Cd's my inlaws brought. He had no problem with it.

Iam not Guyanese or trini but my sister in law is Guyanese, and at my brothers wedding they played soca, reggae, Calypso and indian. To add a really nice sound, they also had a percussionist to play the drums with the music. Their DJ was Bravo. They were really great.

LMOL...believe me I'm not new to these boards, I got married a while ago and I can't remember what my user id and password is. I was browsing an I saw this. Just thought I could add my two cents with Rudeboy. He is very popular in the West Indian community. Here is the link, check it :link
BTW....I've been to a couple of wedding with DJ Hem as the DJ and if you do decide to use him make sure you tell him not to shout out himself all the time, he does it so much as if he is in a Jamaican club..lol...not appropriate for a wedding. I've heard that Dee Jay Dee is good. Also Wildchild is good, they have alot of mixed cd's, maybe if you do a search on the internet you will find them.
