I have naturally medium to dark brown hair. I had highlights put in in September. After they grew out a bit I decided to get rid of them and had my hair dyed a shade or two darker than my natural color, which I LOVED (this was December 5th). Now I feel like it completely faded out, the highlights are still gone but otherwise back to my natural color.
I know darker colors fade on blonde hair but she said that shouldn't happen to me since I already have dark hair.
Is this normal? FH's coworker's wife did it and gave me an amazing price but I don't know if I should go back to her or spend a little more money for color that is actually going to stay. I don't know if I should say something to her or not.

how often do u shampoo ur hair? and are u usig a shampoo/conditioner for color treated hair?

I have the same natural hair color as you, and I used to put thick blonde highlights all the time. I went to a place and had them dye my hair back to its natural color, but after awhile the blonde did still come through. I highlighted my hair blonde for years and I just dont think my hair was healthy enough to hold the color. I think I might have dyed it dark twice so that it wouldnt come through and kept on cutting it. Now im au naturale and thinking of trying a shade darker lol
ETA I used Tressemme color block shampoo and conditioner for dark hair which seemed to help alot.

Yes I use Paul Mitchell Shampoo and Conditioner for color treated hair and I wash my hair every other day or even every third day if I can get away with wearing a ponytail or something, I try not to wash it every day otherwise it gets really dry

i wash my hair every day.. 2x a day on weekend sif i go out at nite. u need to dye ur hair 3-4 times b4 the color stops fading as much. i had bleach blonde hair for 6 yrs. i went black and it faded both times.. but the 2nd time didnt fade as much as the 1st.

oh ok I wasn't sure. The bottom underneath is still pretty dark but the top of my head where the highlights were faded. So maybe next go around it will take better. Thanks!
