I haven't been to eat there, but alot of friends have been there and haven't had any complaints.
I will warn of one thing.... In the pring and summer I go quite often in the evening for walks along the boardwalk. Right next to the hall is the public bathroom which also has an outside shower, for people to rinse off after the beach. Quite a few times I have seen people taking full on showers, shampoo and all, right in full view of anyone who is outside on the deck, having a cigarette or whatever. One time it was a rather large woman in see through bra and panites. It was around 8:30 in the evening.
That is the only thing that would turn me off to the place, IMO. I've been inside for bridal shows and it's beautiful, I especially like the square tables.

Oh boy really?? That is crazy...LOL...I went there to meet with a banquet manager and he gave us a tour and I didnt notice the bathroom...thank you for the heads up on that....I love the square tables as well...just am concerned that the food will not be good, because I show some reviews and a few people said the food was horrible. :(

try going there when they have a bridal show. If you get there early enough, they have some appetizers and finger foods. Try asking the BM if there is a possibility of a tasting, or some way to judge the food before you book. SOmetimes if you let them know thats theonly thing holding you back, they can do something.

Everyone I have heard of who has ate there has said the food was bad. Also, for some reason they leave the curtains wide open when they have weddings there. I was walking on the boardwalk and you could stand there and stare right in at the party going on, which people were doing. The music at the outside bar at the connecting restaurant was blasting too but probably your own music would drown out the other music. This was during the summer.

I was scared of that...I saw some reviews on here from 2008 and a lot of them said the food was bad...I am in love with the place, but I dont want to pay all this money if the food is no good. Thanks very much.

Are you looking to have it only in Staten Island?

Re: Any input on the Vanderbilt in Staten Island

No, we also looked at the venetain in long island and we liked that as well, but I fell in love with the vanderbilt's decor...I just see a lot of reviews of the food being bad....plus they are very expensive and if we are going to be paying a lot of money I want the food to be excellent.

Do you have any suggestions on other places?

Thanks :)

Hi,

I got married at Vanderbilt SI last May '09, we had the whole place and the food was actually really good..and for me, i felt that their service made me feel special, also, u might want to find out from the ppl giving the review on their food if they used Vanderbilt's food or if they hired outside caterers..a lot of ppl also hire outside caterers because VSI is pretty flexible..

my cousin was married there recently- the beach there is pretty gross and it looked the same way in the pictures. The food was just...ok.

I went to my cousin's wedding there in August 08 and it was beautiful! The food was really good and the dessert hour was amazing. They had a candy buffet, chocolate dipped fruits and marshmellows, a popcorn machine, and even a breakfast station!
