Re: Any Interfaith Brides getting married in 2008??
I am! We wanted to have a priest and a rabbi but FH had his heart set on using the priest he had when he was a little boy and he spoke to him and the priest said he won't do it so now FH doesn't care anymore. I think to save money instead of having a priest and a rabbi we will be having one interfaith officiant.

Same here, except the opposite: I'd always assumed I'd have a Jewish wedding. FH said that would be fine with him (he's Christian), but it's not always easy to find a rabbi to marry an interfaith couple, especially on a saturday afternoon, especially outside of the NY area, so I think we're going to just have an officiant.

My rabbi would probably do it, I hear he overcharges but I'm pretty sure he would marry you on a saturday afternoon. We call him the catholic rabbi.

Yes, we are. I was never very religious and since FI's family is very religious I had no problem getting married in a catholic church. I did speak to the priest about bringing in a christian orthodox priest and he said it was no problem at all. Just have to find out if the CO priest would do it because I heard from someone they are not supposed to go into another church.
I also didn't have to do anything at all because both our religions are part of christianity.

I went to a wedding a few weeks ago and she was jewish and he was catholic and they found a rabbi that would do it. Not only that but the rabbi was part cuban which is what the groom was, so i think they really searched for him lol. But he was amazing, i thought he was so great, I would even say one of the things I remember most about the wedding. This was in florida though, but i am sure you can find one.

Thanks, I'll have to remember you when I'm ready to look for one! I'm getting married 2 hours away in connecticut, too, which is another obstacle in so many resspects...

hmm, true! BUT you could start calling around just to find out who would be willing to do it on a sat afternoon and in CT. I wouldn't give up too easily if it's important to you.
