Any Little House on the Prairie fans out there?

Original post by lipglossjunky73

For some reason, I have been waking up crack o dawn lately - DH wakes up at 4 each AM for work - including some Saturdays... So sometimes I'm just up and start watching random TV shows...

NOW - I was a HUGE Little House fan growing up - read all the books, watched the shows religiously, hated Nelly with a passion, and looked like Laura Ingalls when I was little, which was the most awesome compliment ever - I even wore braids to enhance the look!

I have to say - I wish I had a dad like Michael Landon!!! Wasn't Pa the best?

So many of those storylines were twisted. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

Yeah, remember the one where the girl gets repeatedly raped by the guy wearing the mask?

You just gave me goosebumps, remembering that one. Didn't she also 'bind' herself with that cloth? Because her mother was nuts and thought she was a sinner if the other boys recognized that she had breass?

That's right!!!!! I forgot that part. A very creepy episode.

How 'bout the one where the delusional woman thinks Laura is her dead daughter and traps her in the root cellar?

Or the one where James gets shot and Pa tracks the guy down and nearly kills him with his bare hands.

I'm wondering if I blocked some of these out because they were too traumatic.

I went looking for it tonight. Found it on channel 34, starting at 7pm. All the other shows are before I get home.

It was about the Walnut Grove baseball team playing the other mean guys. No tragedies.

I had forgotten how much religion and church played a role in the show though.

What was the name of the pretty blond teacher? She didn't have any speaking parts in the episode but I was trying to remember her name.

Pretty blonde teacher = Miss Beadle who wore Lemon Bursomething perfume.

LHP can be caught daily on TV land at 8pm.

Favorite episode? When Laura finds out Nellie was not injured from the horse incident and calls her out on it in the middle of Walnut Grove. 'you're such a good friend Nellie'.

Conigs - I didn't want to expose you, but thanks for coming out.

Albert. My first exposure to drugs.

OK, so I'm not the fan, my sister was, but we watched together. I remember the 2 part episode where the youngest Ingles was trapped in a well, or a mine or some whole in the ground.
Awww, and Jack, the dog- when he died.

oh my god... i love this thread!!! Little House was my ALL -TIME favorite show! i was obsessed... my sisters and I played 'little house' all the time! i always insisted on being laura..worked out because I am the middle sister. we made our mom make us long skirts and my poor brother is probably tramuatized because he always had to play with us....i made him be Pa, Willy, Albert, Mr. Oleson, Doc Baker...you know, qhoever we needed him to be! he did put his foot down though when I wanted him to be Almanzo and marry me as Laura!!!

FYI: all the seasons are out on DVD now... you can get them cheap at BJs or Amazon... i am pathetic because I bought most of them!!!

I loved the books too.... but the show after the first season completely deviated from the book and was mostly made up.... the episode that still haunts me wwas the when Albert broke into Dr. Baker's office because he was hooked on morphine! What was with the white foam coming out his mouth when Pa was detoxing him???
