MY FH grew up in the LES and his family still lives there. So are Manhattan weddings outragously expensive??

I have lived and worked in NYC for 7 years. Use to live in Times Square and now recently moved to Astoria, Queens.

Manhattan weddings are pretty expensive. PLus you get very little for your dollar here. The spaces are small, cakes are usually not included... its just so much worth your $ out in LI- plus that is where I grew up.

I live on the Upper East Side. My family is from LI also though, so I am getting married out there.
Isn't it a pain to travel to LI every weekend to get all the planning done? I can't wait to spend a weekend at home in NYC!

I live in Washington Heights/Hudson Heights area. Sometimes it feels as though planning a wedding from Manhattan is like planning a wedding from out of state.
Ditto, in comparison to the price for many Manhattan weddings, the price out on LI is more reasonable.

My sentiments. I'm so happy that the majority of the details that needed to be taken care of on Long Island are done. I bought my dress in Manhattan and I'm having everything taken care of for that in the city.
I do get to see my family a lot--parents are out on LI as well.

I was born and raised in Manhattan (East Side). I now live in Downtown Brooklyn so I am a still (somewhat) city girl. And yes, Manhattan weddings are indeed pricey.

I totally agree, except I go after work. FH works in Syosset and does not like going back to LI on the weekdays (we live together), so we do our schlepping after work- and I don't work 9- 5

KathleenG, I used to live in downtown Brooklyn. I lived in Brooklyn heights for 3 years while in law school adn then moved to cobble hill. I love that area!
