Any nail biters out there?

I want to stop biting, but I've been a major nail biter since I can remember. I bought that stuff that you put on your nails that tastes bad, I'm hoping this will work. Any other suggestions? I told my fiance I don't know what I'm going to do...can't bite my nails, I can't smoke, I am trying to eat healty...I need a bad habit!

I will admit it ... I am a terrrible nail bitter! I bought that stuff that tastes bad and let me tell you you can never eat finger food! Even my hambergers tasted like it! But then I got used to it and it didn't bother me! So since december I have had fake nails on. I kept them short so they looked real. Now they are wrapped, I am going to do it for a year or until I just don't put them in my mouth anymore (hasn't happened yet!). Its expensive but I really need to stop because my nail beds are damaged and eventually the damage will be permanent. You also have to figure out if it is a nervous habit or if its a 'getting' you nails perfect habit. Mine is both but I am more of a if a nail breaks I will keep bitting until it is even and thats usually until its too low to even be a nail!

*Edit: I just wanted to add that I chew gum to help. I am less likely to bite my nails because I am already chewing on something and its pretty gross when nails get caught in you gum!

pick up some naltiques and get a manicure once a week - keep them looking nice and you won't bite them...

This stopped me:

Wear a rubber band around your wrist and everytime you catch yourself biting your nails, snap the rubber band REALLY HARD!!!

After a while, subconsciously you realize that biting your nails will cause pain and you will stop biting your nails.
