Yes, they get subs for ALL of us. We used to do it on the weekends but it was too expensive for the district. We were making $45 an hour.
Now, instead of paying us they pay for subs which are cheaper.

On the Human Resources page under Career Opportunities. Then go all the way to the bottom and look at the per session postings.

They actually are paying is per session which is about $39 an hour and the posting is for 100 hours. We probably will work about 80. The only thing is that it is EVERY day from now until February 15th.

Re: Any NYC teachers grading the ELA?
I would totally do that. I don't mind grading the ela's. I have been doing it for 6 years now and I actually look forward to it.
I loved when we used to get paid but now its a nice break from the classroom so I can't really complain.

The only problem is that I don't always agree with other people. We were grading today and my table leader kept wanting to bump up grades and give the kids higher marks. He kept telling me questions were fully answered when it was pretty clear they were lacking. It was pissing me off because we had extensive training on the rubrics and it's not our job to assume the kids meant more than they wrote!
