I figured I would for a while, but then realized I don't have a clue! LOL I normally don't wear too much make up, so I soon realized that I'll need some help.

With 7 weeks left, I still haven't found one (although I have a trial scheduled) so I may end up doing it myself anyway!!

I am still trying to figure this one. I live in Queens and do not know many makeup artists here. For trials they all cost like 60 and up..and what if I dont like one..I dont have that kind of money. I aplly makeup every day but I was thinking of just changing the products to something that will last longer like Mac...not too sure yet though..I also dont want my hand shaking while I am applying!

I'm doing my own--even though my skin is awful at times! I can't afford to have it professionally done and I'm not sure I could deal with all the makeup since I hardly wear any.

Re: Any of you 'brides-to-be' plan on doing your own make-up?

Jenny5150 - I did my own makeup for my wedding last year, and I could not have been happier with my choice. One of my cousins was married 4 months before me, and I had a trial with someone on the day of her wedding, since I would have hated spending $$ on the trial with no place to go. I was completely unhappy with the result, and that is why I decided to do my own makeup on my wedding day.

My makeup looks beautiful in all my pictures - not a single shot with a shiny nose or anything - but, I have my MOH and BMs to thank for that, too.

My advise is do what makes you most comfortable. If you think you'll be too nervous on the day of, than hire someone and go for a trial.
But, also do some research on the makeup you will use.

I used Bobbi Brown foundation - and I didn't even have to pay for it. I went to the Bobbi Brown counter a month before my wedding and got a sample size in my foundation shade. Then I bought Lancome's T.Controle Matifier, which is applied under your foundation to prevent shine, and Lancome's Effacernes waterproof undereye concealer. The finishing touch was Lancome's Eternicils waterproof mascara - a must-have on your wedding day!

Re: Any of you 'brides-to-be' plan on doing your own make-up?

Doing your own makeup that day might be a little stressful, that's why I didn't want to do it myself. You could go to your favorite makeup counter and get a free trial and if you like what the girl does you could ask what she charges and if she travels. You could tell them exactly how much makeup you feel comfortable wearing and if their good they'll be able to do what you like. Good luck!

Re: Any of you 'brides-to-be' plan on doing your own make-up?

For my wedding last year, I tried 2 different make up artists and looked completely unlike me in both cases. Then I went to a Clinique event at the mall where they had their own make up artists showing how to do your own make up. I discussed my concerns (covering dark circles under the eyes and looking natural) and they showed me what to do. I then practiced a few times at home and I could not have been happier with the results. It was not stressful at all doing my own makeup the morning of the wedding.

Re: Any of you 'brides-to-be' plan on doing your own make-up?

At first I considered doing my own makeup because I'm not a huge fan of makeup...but after seeing a lot of pics from makeup trials of other brides I decided that it's worth the extra money to have someone do your face in such a way that it'll last 12 hours.
You don't pay multiple thousands on wedding photography and then risk not looking your best for the pictures
