hey girls! just wondering how many of u 08ers have figured out where u and FH are going to live after the wedding!! im hoping to kno at least a year before so we can start planning and registering for stuff....we cant afford a house right now (at least not in NY anyway!) on top of all the $$$$ for the wedding, so we were thinkin about condos....but then FH's parents decided to sell their house in PA so we're thinkin bout buying a 2family in LI with them...any1 go through this? suggestions? where are u all going to live?
PS- sorry if this topic has been posted already...im not sure if it has...lol

well u already know this but we are living upstairs from my parents
my parents offered to make my house into a two family, so the tiny apt upstairs is like a trial to see how that would work. . . not sure how much FH is going to like living with my parents but he will definitely LOVE the cooking!
before my parents offered the apartment we were looking at co ops in the area. . .

well right now we are livin in the apt downstairs from his dad ....u owuld think we would get a break on the rent ...but we plan on styaing here until i get prego...then i dont know where....hopefully not on staten island ...i would love to move to florida

thanks i know i think my parents are trying to delay becoming 'empty nesters' since i am the baby. . .
its hard bc FH cant relocate, and the houses in the area are so expensive. . . if we did the house over we would pay for all the work done and then take over the mortgage for the ten remaining years . .
however, last night we saw these houses in bethpage and FH was talking about how much he would love to live in an area like that. . . esp. on a dead end. . . .but he has to be at work in howard beach at 5am some mornings so i am not sure if he would be willing to make the drive. . . for me it doesnt matter since i can always hop on the LIRR to get to work AND if i did that my job would pay for most of it! idk. . .confusing LOL

FH & I are looking, he works in the city, I 'm on the northshore of nassau, FH wants to buy in the area where he grew up so our children can go to the same school district. It's also colser to the city. This is one of the most expensive areas on Long Island... Where if we are ever going to be able to purchase a house it would most likely be tiny, & need tons of work, yet if we go a lil further east & to the south shore where I grew up, we could buy a beautiful home, that would be larger and I've seen a ton on Optimun homes that have been redone & are below where he sumes we'll have to start at.. So time wil tell

Actually we're in the process of looking at houses now. But back up in Rochester, for a start We can't afford anything here just yet. But up there we can afford it... We're living with my family, but it's just too much chaos...

Well with pushing back the wedding, we are hoping to save enough money to put a down payment on a condo. My dad plans on selling the house a yr or two after I am married, so eventually that will help us pay the mortgage.

yea I'm really excited that it works for both of us, FH is an accountant and his firm has an office down there and I can work anywhere that there are prisons and rapists! Right now we live in a co op in bayside, FH bought it 2 years ago and I'm mooching (it's sweet)

we're looking into different areas too but being a queens girl, i dont know much about LI- does anyone want to share some good areas to look in nassau? nowhere extremely expensive, but a nice area with good school ...tia =)

I would move back upstate, not because I love it there, but simply because Rochester is sooooo much cheaper. we're here in suffolk at least a few more years because of FH's job.

we're staying in our apt until the wedding...and then waiting for the lease to end that yr...but i think we're going to stay one yr after that and look into a starter house sumplace on the northshore b/c that's where fh grew up and refuses to live anywhere else.
i know a bunch of ppl that moved to nc...ull be able to find awesome houses!!!!
