Hi!! Thanks for posting!! Our Daughter is marrying a guy from Long Island, but he lives here, in Pa. His parents still live in Long Island. Deb wanted a beach wedding, so Long Island. I actually asked her why not N.J.? Wouldn't it be closer for everyone? But she loves Long Island. I can't wait to see it!!!!!!!! Mary

FH and I were born and raised in Nassau but moved to Central FL 2 years ago. Thought it would be easier on family to have it on LI.

Thanks for the posts, gals!! Appreciate it!! Deb is looking for an affordable rehearsal dinner place. The ceremony/reception is at Chateau La Mer, and one hotel that has been booked is The Marriott Courtyard, Farmingdale. There will be about 50 people. Any suggestions? PS It should have some healthy menu choices. Fred is into healthy eating!! Mary MOB

I used to live on LI and moved to NJ due to job relocation. I was planning my LI wedding from NJ and it was very stressful and expensive with the toll =P

I was in NJ for the majority of my planning now I'm in PA. We just moved to PA a week ago! We're in the home stretch right now so most of our stuff is done and it won't be hard to plan the remainder from PA.

Deb can certainly id with you on the stress and expense!!! For a person who hasn't traveled much, I nearly fell over when I heard the Marriott will be charging about $159 per night!!!! And that's the group rate!! She was relieved to hear they'll accept Fred's Reward Points. Appreciate your input!! Mary

Wow, you really did plan from a distance!! Do you like NC? My Husband would like to move to Fla. to play golf the rest of his life! I'm not convinced yet!! I don't want to be far from our kids, and Grandson. Most moms are probably like that. How many of you couples plan to move away from family after you're married? I know Deb and Fred have talked about moving to State College, so she can get her Masters Degree in Guidance Counseling. Any other Penn State Alumni out there?? She got her BS in Human Dev. and Family Studies, at Penn St. Fred grad. from Bloomsburg. Any Grads from there? I do feel for Fred's Mom, in KingsPark, who rarely gets to see her only child! That would really be hard. I spoke to a sweet elderly gal at Wal-Mart the other day, who told me she has a Daughter in California. She never gets to see her, poor thing. But I guess that's life, today. Appreciate your post!! Mary

We're in Easton PA, right off Interstate 78, it's just over the border about 6 miles from NJ. The housing and living costs went way down just from crossing state lines! So far we really like it here!

You're right about cost of living being cheaper here! My Husband is a builder/foreman, and many customers are from the New England States. When I saw the house estimates for New York, on HGTV , I could understand why people are moving here. You certainly get more square feet for the money!! It's sometimes tough for young couples to buy a house right away. Both our Daughters rent, and the rent is high, but not as high as in New York!!! I'm excited for Deb and Fred to be moving closer to us after they're married!! They plan to rent a two bedroom, two and a half bath townhouse, which I think is about $1060/month. The place is huge!! I think it's worth that rent. Deb is thrilled that they each will have a bathroom to get ready in the morning for work. By the way, if you gals know a well known furniture chain, where Deb can find a tropical type dining table with extra leaves(Can't wait to be invited for supper!) please tell me. I know that Penneys had a Chris Madden pineapple/pedestal round dining table for sale, but I don't know if it had extra leaves, and I'm not sure it's still available. Mary
