Lessings is EXCELLENT. However, it also depends on the venue. The Bourne is a Lessings venue and people STILL rave about the food at our wedding. I went to a wedding at Smithtown Landing the month before my own wedding, and I will admit I did not like the food, but it could have just been the entrees that this couple picked. I found that when we were picking our menu, they were willing to work with us a lot. Some people just look at what they offer and assume that's all they can get, so go do a tasting and talk to them about working with the food if you don't like it. It was a beautiful ballroom, however.

The Lessings food is basically the same at all locations. We got married at Timber Point, but we substituted some of the Bourne Mansion entrees because we didn't like the ones from the menu we had to choose from, and they substituted at no extra cost. I don't remember about the bottled beer, but I actually don't like the look of bottles all over so that wouldn't have mattered to me. We looked at Smithtown Landing, but I didn't like a couple things about it--one large reception room overlooked a pool that either in summer had people out there even until the evening, or in fall/winter was covered with a bright blue cover. Also, they told us with our size wedding the cocktail hour and reception would be in two separate buildings. I didn't like the idea of having our guests having to move between buildings. We had ours at Timber Point and loved it, and had no problems at all with Lessings. Our food was delicious.

smithtown landing is literally 3 minutes from my house. I could walk there...in heels. I had my sweet 16 there, as did my sister.

FSIL was married there in september 2001 - I do NOT have a good review (food AND decor - there were mouse droppings in the bathroom).....BUT that was 4 years ago and the whole place has since been redone.

My brother had his Bar Mitzvah there is 1999. I know that is ages ago, but it was a beautiful affair! Having multiple buildings works out great if you are having your ceremony there too!!

We had a friend get married there recently and besides the chocolate fountain, we left there hungry. We were not impressed at all with the food.

Thanks was it that they didn't have a lot of selections or the food just wasn't good?

The food just wasn't good. I was disappointed since I had always heard such nice things about Lessings food. The wedding cake wasn't even good.
