Having a Black Tie Affair wedding? I really pushed for Black Tie Opptional, but lost that and now it's set on a black tie affair. I'm excited about everyone getting dressed up, but I know a lot of my friends don't have tuxes and it's just an extra expense for them to rent.

I really want one. But it doesn't look like it is happening.
It is what it is....

Re: Any Other Bride...
im having a sunday afternoon. mostly because im jewish and i dont want people leaving early to go to work the next day. i dont want people to think it is not a fancy wedding so im putting black tie optional. IMO, i think putting black tie puts alittle stress on the guest to be in a tux.

I know... that was my fear too, but I figured the tuxes now with a strait tie look a lot like a suit so if my friends show up in a black suit and tie that'll be okay.
Isn't it funny... I'm Jewish too and I've been to a lot of Jewish weddings that are black tie. Ours is a late Sat night b/c it's gotta be after sundown.

Re: Any Other Bride...
I'm putting black tie preferred.
In my experience, ppl do whatever they want regardless of what's on the invite. They'll wear whatever and bring their kids despite what I put on the invite Having 'black tie preferred' and 'adult reception' are two phrases I need to make me feel like I have some sort of control over this weeding...even though I'm sure tons of guests will bring their kids

Re: Any Other Bride...
guests will get confused or do what they want anyway...
I put Formal Attire Please on my invite, so taht people didn't show up in jeans, and I had family members ask if that meant they needed to wear a tux... it is like talking to a wall

I think black tie is really elegant, especially since you're having an evening wedding. I'm not doing it myself, but I think that people are going to wear what they want anyway...hopefully by putting 'black tie' on your invites, people will get the idea!

I would have LOVED to have put Black Tie on our invites, but I know my family and I know his family.....no one would show up BUT, maybe if I put BLACK TIE AFFAIR (kegs will be provided).....that might change their minds!!!!!!!

That's too funny! When I told a couple of my crazy friends (drinking buddies and shore house roommates) they said can they wear a tuxedo t-shirt?!?! LOL

I've never been to a wedding were people weren't dressed accordingly. They might not be in black tie wear, but as a whole I think most people understand that you need to be dressed a certain way when you attend a wedding.

Re: Any Other Bride...
I would love it, but mine is an afternoon affair, and I don't thnk it would be fair for those who can't afford to rent a tux and buy a ballgown.
