Does anyone commute into the city on the port wasington line? If so, what town do you catch the train? How long does it take? Where do you park? Is it really crowded?
I need info for my hubby's new job!

Re: Any port washington line commuters???
I used to take the train from Auburndale (Queens). The ride on an express train was about 23 minutes. Parking is a nightmare because there is no lot, it's all residential.
What town are you looking at? I think most of the stops in Queens (Bayside, Auburndale, Broadway, etc) will have parking issues.

My DH used to take it from Manhasset. You can rent parking spaces from people who live in the town for about $250-$350 a month.

I take this line occasionally. The ride isn't that bad.

Where do you live? If you live in PW you should get a parking sticker. If you are in Manhasset, good luck finding someone there with available space to rent. There are a few 'commuter spaces' in the manhasset lot, maybe about 10, he can get one if he gets there very early, before 7AM, I think it's about $4/day. I used to take the train from Little Neck, was walking distance, but there is street parking near there (in the great neck terrace development). I see tons of people doing it.

The commute is fantastic... From PW it's about 35 min... Great Neck always has a zillion trains and most are express, 20-25 min.

roslyn isn't on the PW line.
you have to be a resident to park at PW or Great Neck. DH look the train from Little Neck when we lived there, used to park on the street near the station. he preferred that line to our current one (Babylon), although parking is much easier now, esp. after it snows.

One of my family members owns a home about a 4 minute walk from the Manhasset train station and rents out driveway space. I'm pretty sure they charge under $100/mo. FM me if anyone is interested.

Re: Any port washington line commuters???
this is the BEST train line in my opinion. It is awesome- there is never any transfering- so you dont have to get off the train- or wait at the platform for another train to get there to board yours. I usually take the train from great neck. Not only is it bw a 20 and 27 minute ride depending if its express- but there are always soooo many trains coming and going- so if you cant make one- usually another within 5-7 min (at rush hour). As for parking.... not so easy (but how many are)
