Any Recent Swan Club Brides?

Any Recent Swan Club Brides?

I'm down to two 1/2 options- Swan Club, Fox Hollow and my half is Leonards- more my mom's taste than either of ours. My fiance isnt into the gold and chandeliers.

I really like the Swan Club. The room is a little small and we're really going to have to cut down our guest list but i think its worth it. I just dont get why the price is so cheap. The quote i got for the platinum package is cheaper than anything else i've seen. This includes the extra pasta, the extra seafood, vienese hr and another entree option.

Has anyone been to the Swan Club? How is the food? My mom is all about the food and feeding your guests till they double-over. I'm all about the ambience since I'm sure i won't even get to eat anything. I want to make everyone happy- ambience, food, service, etc.

If you have any reviews- good or bad, please share! Thanks for your help!

Re: Any Recent Swan Club Brides?

I can't speak for Swan Club...my sister is getting married there this June. Before I picked places, I saw them online and always thought that would be a great place to get married. I must admit, I wasn't too impressed with the rooms. They have lovely gardens, but I thought they'd have outdoor ceremonies, but they don't. The ceremony is not outdoors, its indoors, and the place is not as pretty as you would think. I hear the food is good, but I will find out for sure next month.
As for Fox Hollow, they have the most choices at a reasonable price. They have beautiful rooms and manicured grounds, even in winter! You can take outdoor pictures but they don't have the gardens you have at the Swan Club, but the rooms are much nicer. As for Leonard's, that's where I'm getting married, the food there I hear is the best, but I must admit, they don't have large grounds. The fountains and courtyard is beautiful. The rooms are beautiful and grandiose, but as you mentioned, FH doesn't like the place. I had a hard time chosing between Fox Hollow and Leonard's but went w/ the ladder because of their long tradition, the rooms, the ambiance, the decor, and the food. If I had a choice between Fox Hollow and Swan, I'd probably pick Fox Hollow because of the place, and food. I think those two places give you more bang for your buck than Swan, but then again, it might depend on the time of year, and day of week....but in any case, I would chose between Fox Hollow or Leonard's. Good luck with your planning.

Re: Any Recent Swan Club Brides?

For me the Swan Club has the best location out of the three on your list. I was torn between a couple but in the end the Swan Club's grounds and the location sealed the deal. I like not having my reception hall off of jericho turnpike where as the Swan Club is in such a great town. My OOT guests will stay in the quaint town of Rosyln. FH and I were just there on Saturday and he felt like we were in an old town in New England. It has its own personality.
I haven't tasted the food there mysefl but have heard great things about it. My parents went to the Swan Club bridal show (I live in philly and couldn't get there) anyway they tasted the coctail hour food there and loved it. I'm going to my tasting next month so I'll let you know how that is. To me food was imporatnat but the overall feel of the place was more important and that is why I chose and love the SwanClub.
And the price is fantastic and couldn't be beat. I see you are getting married in September, the grounds will be amazing then, great for pictures. You won't have to go somewhere else to take your pics you can do it all on the grounds there....

Thanks all for the advice! Yeah the rooms aren't impressive. Thats my biggest problem with Swan. I love the gardens, i love the cocktail room. i just wish the reception was a bit bigger. Fox Hollow was more expensive and gave us less. I just told my mom where it is and now she's griping about the location. Church is in Astoria and my mom thinks end of nassau would inconvenience people.

Dont even mention the terrace. i just found out fiance's mom is afraid of heights so thats out! otherwise there's no good places in queens! waters edge is astronimical.

i just dont know if i will find a place everyone will like!

As far as Queens, have you checked out Douglaston Manor? If your looking for ambience, they definitely have it.....they renovated last year, and it's gorgeous now!! And at least then you're not so far from Astoria!! The prices are great, but don't think that that means they'd give you less, I think its because 1) they're in Queens (usually LI halls charge more) and 2) since its new owners and everything is redone, I think their price is still reasonable while word spreads that it doesn't look like an 80's disco anymore lol, as it did in its previous life!! I have pics in my album if you want to check them out, or send me an FM with any questions (as far as price, and what I'm getting). good luck deciding!!

Re: Any Recent Swan Club Brides?

I fell in LOVE with Swan Club from the moment we walked in. The outside is a little plain and dated, but they do their best to make it look better with flowers. FH and I are having our reception in the Camalot Room and the CH room is the one that is attached (it's 2 levels) Plus all the gardens and the fact that there is only 1 other bride there that day and her ceremony starts at 530 (right about the time that FH and I will start to take pictures) so we won't be conflicting for anything becasue I was told that she is doing all her pics before hand. I haven't seen her on here though !!

I like Swan Club better then Fox Hollow. Douglaston Manor is really nice too. Leonards is too flashy for FH and I so we didn't even look there.

Good luck ! !

I just had my wedding at the Swan club. I had a great time. You need the bigger rooms such as the camelot room to enjoy the Swan club, because the garden room on the ground floor is not that nice and the entrance is on the side of the venue. It rained on my day so I did not get the beautiful grounds pictures. So consider that if you petrified of rain. I was pleased with the menu and options for the price given. Leonards is good if you want to bring in your own food.

Thanks! Yeah I'm worried about the rain too but i may get an insurance policy and book the Westbury Gardens for pictures just in case! It has a beautiful mansion to take pictures in and someone told me they only paid $500 to reserve it. Its worth it if it rains! After all the costs, what $500 more! So there was a lot of food? My mom is so worried, guests will walk away hungry! Argh. Trying to please parents has been so hard. I still have a year and half to go and i'm ready to elope to vegas! lol.

PS what does FH stand for? Future Husband?

I went to the Swan Club for the Bridal Expo and the food was delicious. Do a search for the three that you mentioned, that might help you decide. I am partial to the Swan Club, I'm in the Garden room and personally I like the room. I have my tasting there tomorrow, FM if you would like to know how it went.

Is anyone else having their reception in the garden room? We've already booked it but the more I look at the pictures on the website the more I want the camelot room. We're having approximately 150 guests and I think it might be a little tight, what do you ladies think?

Had my wedding there in July...the food was great! People are still talking about how much there was at our CH. The staff was excellent. I would highly recommend the Swan Club Look at my review for more details

Re: Any Recent Swan Club Brides?

I'm getting married at the swan club ad I'm in the garden room. I liked the garden room because it has a separate entrance and its secluded from the other two rooms. I went to a bridal show there and loved the food. That was one of the main reasons we booked because FH is the pickiest when it come to food, and the other reason was of course the grounds!! Everyone who works there are so nice and helpful!! Good Luck making your decision!

I dont think i've ever been to the garden room. But i went for a free lunch they offered during the week and the food was excellent. I just sent my desposit in and i am awaiting the contract! Assuming everything matches up, i should have a reception hall taken care of! Thanks so much for all the advice!

we had 130 guest and there was still room for more tables (in the garden room) it holds like 16 + tables 10 at a table. It rained our day so it was great that everything was covered. We took pics in the camolot room. We also took some pictures in the gazebo. They have a bridal attendent and matra d to wait on you hand and foot! there were 2 other brides there that day and i ran into 1 of them, even though they tried so that wouldn't happen. The food was good. and so was the cake. we had a really great time!

I agree with you and FH, I think the Swan Club and Fox Hollow are the better choices, Im not too into Leonards either. But when I went to Swan Club, I thought not only are the grounds so beautiful, but even the drive to the place is pretty! :) You really cant go wrong with either two, both pretty and classy!!
