any regrets?

Re: any regrets?

DH & I paid for the entire wedding ourselves. When we began to plan, we made sure we had a budget in mind & made sure we stuck to it. There were certain items that we did splurge on & others that we didn't. For me, my photography & video were the most important besides the hall. So we made sure we got the exact package we wanted & didn't mind spending the $$. Invitations were not big deal to me bc I knew once the wedding was over, everyone would throw them out! So I found something elegant but yet inexpensive.

Another reason we got married in March was the difference in the price. I know you take a gamble with the weather but we had absolutely gorgeous weather! For us, we saved a lot of $$ there. When it came to our HM, we didn't overspent as we knew that it would be something we looked back on as memories but was not worth spending a lot on.

In the time that we were planning our wedding, we also bought a home. Luckily enough, we had saved all the $$ we needed for our wedding the 1st year of our engagement & by the time it came time to close on our house, we didn't have to worry about where that money was coming from. Planning is essential in everything.

I don't regret one thing about my wedding & if I had to do it all over again, I would not change a thing. Remember to just stick to your budget & of course, you will have to sacrafice but it is your day & you should have it the way you want as long as you can afford it.!

I have to be honest. I have no regrets of the day and the decisions made, but as they say hind sight is 20/20. If I knew then what I know now, I would have been more frugale (though I was on some things). I look back now and see the money I spent on things I thought I HAD to have/do and it's a little upsetting.

The biggest reason it's upsetting is I am 7 months pregnant and I can see now where some of that money would be SO nice to have now. We knew we wanted to try and conceive rigth after the wedding, but had no idea we'd be so lucky to conceive SO quickly.

I want to stress, I have NO regrets, just would have done a few things differently had I known what the future held. I would have saved more, started working the 3rd job sooner (I started it 3 mos before the wedding), cut more corners.

For example, I was insistant on having thermography invites. Not for nothing, not that many people notice or even keep the invite after the fact--that alone could have saves almost $200. Regret--no.

Nope. It was a lot of money and we paid for 1/2 of it and for all of our honeymoon, which we totally splurged on, but we loved every minute of it. We weren't planning on buying an apartment until this year at the earliest anyway and we're still on track for what we want to do. But we consciously decided not to do everything at once--we're not buying for a little while and we're not buying beyond what we can afford; we're also not having a baby for awhile (at least we plan not to)--so it's easy not to have regrets because we're not missing out on anything now. It really depends on what you're trying to achieve over the next few years--if you want to do it all at once, it's going to be hard and you might have some short-term regrets, but in the long run it may mean more to you to have had the big day. I know I would regret not having had the wedding of my dreams, but we're all different so think about what you'd regret more.

We paid for about 80% of it and to be honest I wish I just did a destination wedding. It would have been less of a hassel. I had so much go wrong that day for me and vendors treating me like crap that I would never do that again. Everyone had a great time but I really don't think it's worth all that money.

The honeymoon was totally worth it though!!
