Our reception is at 7PM right now, but I want to bump it up to 6PM. The Riviera said they have to wait to see if someone books in the morning for our day before they will let us know whether or not we can do that.
I just feel like it is such a long period between our ceremony, which will get over around 4 PM and the cocktail hour...especially since we have a lot of out of town guests since my fiancee is from MA.

I hear ya. But at least you can get all your photos done & enjoy the cocktail hour. I was concerned about the gap also, but it will fly for everyone - maybe you can suggest a hangout place for out of towners. I have about the same gap as you - it will all work out. And maybe you can move it to 6pm or even 6:30.
