changing their profession? I've been working as a teacher for 10 years this Dec. Before that I was a case worker. I LOVE working with children and I enjoy my career. I don't mind the checks also, since I'm at top salary of my scale...;) Thing is I really love travelling and want to have my own business so it doesn't conflict with anything. I'm also getting tired of telling my boss what I really feel about the school system and the lack of discipline in the schools. He always tells me to join the leadership academy because I'll make a great principal.....me give up my day for long hours? or give up my summers? NO WAY! I want to be my own boss....any suggestion??

My FH owns his own business, and i work for him as well. It is really nice to not have anyone to answer to, we go away and are having a great time, we can extend our trip no problem, he just has the payroll overnited to wherever we are, signs the checks and sends it back!
If you really dont love your job you should look into opening your own business!!!!

I have been a teacher for thirteen years and I am thinkin about doin something different too. Moving to New York in one month so I am gonna stick with teaching til I get settled

The grass is always greener on the other side... That's the best advice I can give you! I am totally frustrated and hating my job right now, but I know I wont have the same perks at another job... like 5 weeks vacation! You can try it out for the summer and see if you like and always go back to teaching in the fall!
