i think i cant eat meat. recently ive had 2 monster episodes after eating red meat where i wanted to literally die. a nutritionist told me that red meat causes inflammation and is hard to digest so it could really flare up my crohn's.
but i had chicken the other day and same thing. :(
anyone switch to veggie bc they had bad reactions to meat?

I don't really have a 'bad' reaction to meat - I can eat it. But I find that when I eat red meat (like hamburgers, steaks, etc) I tend to feel very weighed down and sluggish and just overall crappy. I don't even have to eat that much of it - just like a few bites and I get that feeling. I usually stick with chicken, turkey or pork and I'm fine.
I don't completely not eat red meat, but it's not my first choice.

I get into phases where I don't eat meat (red or chicken). I haven't eaten either in about 6 weeks but eat fish sometimes.
I honestly feel like I eat meat because it's convenient (I dont' have to decline anything at someone's house for example) but was never a huge meat eater. I also feel healthier when I don't eat meat so I like to try to see 'how long I can go' without it.
make sure you get enough B12 vitamins though. They say it's really important for vegans/vegetarians to get enough.

I also have a really hard time digesting meat. I don't have crohns but I have IBS. I also have dairy, tomato and coffee issues so when it flares up I basically live on rice. My son is a vegetarian, but he will eat fish. He has not had meat in around 4 years.

I'm a longtime vegetarian...this month marks 18 years of being a veggie - no meat, poultry or fish.

oh thanks! i'm really done with feeling horrendous and figure this may be the way to go.
FYI - my dr disagrees and says i'm insane.

I ahve IBS and notice that red meat irritates my tummy. I mainly eat chicken.... and maybe red meat once a year....
I wish i coudl give you pointers though! I am just as lost as you aim!
