Anybody book their HM on their own

Original post by soon2bmrsdunn

I seem to be able to get better pricing when looking things up online through jet blue and expedia. Has anyone else booked their own Honeymoon.? What are the advantages/disadvantages?

We did, we used points/miles/timeshare for our flight from NY-Hawaii and all of our accomodations so we only had to pay for rental car and interisland flights (and food/incidentals when we got there obviously).

I also booked the entire thing online on my own; it was relatively easy once we actually decided where we wanted to go and what we wanted to do. airfare was done thru travelocity and i just booked the hotels direclty online through them. one hotel we chose a package where they take care of tours, interisland travel, and expeditions. that was a big factor in our decision. all in all i think we did the right thing for us; if you arent as comfortable booking things on your own i would use a travel agent who can answer all your questions directly.

We haven't booked yet , but I'm pretty sure we'll be booking on our own. We're doing a short trip. We soke with a TA, and the prices she gave us were more expensive for the same package.

we booked on our own... we booked the resort directly through the resort itself , and then airfare through expedia.com... we went to the british virgin islands, so we had one flight to puerto rico and then another one from PR to Tortola (in the BVI), and then a ferry from Tortola to Virgin Gorda, where the resort was.... we had no problems booking both flights on our own through expedia, and then the resort set up the ferry for us...
