Anybody else sad and disappointed before their wedding?

Anybody else sad and disappointed before their wedding?

Hi all,

Maybe I'm just being over emotional, but with only 29 days until the wedding, I wish it would get here already so it could just be over. I'm happy to be marrying my fiancé of course, but I hate the wedding. I can't believe how many RSVP's I received that were 'no's' with no explanation as to why they won't be there. I just find it rude, and I can't help but take it personally. In addition, I'm a few days post RSVP deadline now, and there are quite a few that couldn't even bother to send the response card back! I know that this happens, but it's kind of hurtful. I guess this combined with all of the other pre-wedding stress has just got me down. Anybody else feel this way?

I understand your frustration. I'm 8 months out (2014 crashing) and I worry about that too.

Did you make your minimum for Timber Point with all the 'no's'?

I did make my minimum which I'm thankful for. I think I just take the 'no' reaponses too personally. A lot of the 'no's' were people I work with who I have worked with for 7 years which kind of hurts. I had another friend from childhood that I grew up with (I introduced her to her husband and of course was at her wedding) just check off 'not attending' and stuff a 50 dollar check into the return envelope. It's just odd. I feel pretty unloved.

It's hard to not take it personally, I completely did as well. I was an emotional wreck all because of Hurricane Sandy-which ended making us postpone our wedding for another 4 months. With our original date, we had a ton of people coming, but then when our wedding was postponed we had so many no's that we ended up having to invite more people last mintue and still didn't make our minimum. Only 2 of my college girlfriends came, half didn't even rsvp'd, just texted me no,, the others didnt even have a reason, nor have they said anything since to me. Its sad becasue I always go out of my way for people and always drive up to my hometown when something is planned, yet NONE of them (except one) has ever come to anything of mine. Oh well, I guess you just learn who are true friends and family and who you can count on.

On the other hand, try not to let it ruin your day. Your wedding will be wonderful and special anyway, even when you can;'t wait for it to be over.

I'm so sorry to hear your wedding was impacted by hurricane Sandy! I feel bad even complaining about mine.

I totally understand feeling like you do a lot for other people and getting nothing in return! I'm just going to look forward to the honeymoon!

My cousin, who is more like a brother to me, had his wife check off no and send it back. I was really upset at that. I think it's low class to do that.

That's awful!! How hurtful! Did they ever explain?? I also have a cousin who was going back and forth about coming up from Florida (I was in her bridal party) First she wasn't sure if she could afford the flights, then she wasn't sure about time off of work. Ultimately she responded 'no' to the wedding but told my mother she will be in New Jersey visiting her husband's family the week of my wedding so she'll try to get over to LI to see me. My wedding is Sunday, they are leaving the Friday before! I just don't get it (btw, I flew down to her wedding back in 2004 in Florida - missed a week of grad classes and incurred all of the crazy costs)

I can't wait for it to be over too. I'm not getting any responses back and it's getting me frustrated. Worried about money and how to pay for all the tips and every other stress I have encountered planning this wedding.

It definitely is stress and we all have our ups and downs with the wedding. I had to beg my friends to send back the rsvps and I think some people really don't understand how hurtful it can be to not send one back. Being a bride, I feel like emotions really get amplified because we are dealing with so many people (friends, family and vendors) Also we are investing so much money and time to create our day. Don't be upset. I'm sure all of our weddings will be beautiful!

FH is especially unhappy with responses. The people who seem to have no excuse make it bad for people who do have legit reasons for not being there. He's afraid he'll be under-represented and there won't be enough people to have a good time. (I have too much on my plate to worry about this, but it 'stings' when he says it. I can empathize.) I've been toying with the idea of sending invites to work people...they don't know the invites went out. But I really don't want to. Remember 3 things though 1) Many people go on vacation during the summer, or are saving for a family vacation. 2) many people are still recovering from lost jobs/income due to the economy. 3) There's no place on the response cards that says 'Reason for non attendance' (lol - can you imagine?). So they're not obligated to give a reason. If I were a guest, out of courtesy, I would put a reason depending on my relationship with the bride/groom.

I have about 20 people from Europe who were invited. If I don't get a positive response from them, I'll just assume they're not coming. The ones in the US are going to be tough. I even have people in the wedding party who haven't responded! My deadline is August 1st. I keep reminding FH there's still time.

As brides we invest so much time, effort, and money into our weddings, it can be disheartening when people don't come. Try not to fret over the things you can't control. It will all work out fine!

i didnt really think of writing a reponse or that i should most times when i rsvp'd no in the past
i guess that was pretty bad especially when i went to a shower & not the wedding
however, for my roommate from college i did write something because i felt so bad about not going. it was a $ issue (travelling to SC, staying in a hotel for 2/3 days) and i was also in a bad place at the time

My RSVP date was july 1. just got 2 more back yesterday. The day they were due i messaged people who are on FB and pretty much told them i need an answer yes or no, i don't care. I have seating charts to tackle. be a little forceful with people who are rude enough to not respond

I had sent STDs to many people who I had worked with at the time that they went out, at the time, I really hoped they would come. But now that I am no longer with that organization, I dont expect many of them to come except those people who I have remained close to. Since you HAVE to send an invite to anyone you sent a STD to, I am sure I will get a lot of no's from them.
Thats just the way it goes: over time, relationships change and people come and go in your life.
Plus, also remember they could be going through a hard time personally that you might not know anything about and the idea of celebrating is more than they can handle.
I think its perfectly ok if its someone you are close to to write them a quick note and say, 'I am so sorry you can't come! I hope everything is ok' and let it go at that.
FH is sad that a few old colleagues that he has felt close to in the past have not been responsive, but I have a feeling they are just not the type who would have fun at a big festive event. So, I am going to try not to take my declines too personally. It may have nothing to do with me. But its still disappointing!

I completely understand about taking it personally when people respond no. I was the same way - esp with 2 ppl that I expected to come - & the fact that there was no explanation or a congrats, was disappointing but I couldn't be bothered with that! one of my friends that responded no, did call me & explain & she had a good reason so I couldn't be upset. Some ppl from work didnt even bother to RSVP - and gave me excuses when I asked them in person - WTH???? Anyways, the ppl that mattered were there and celebrated with us & I couldn't ask for anything more!
It's hard when we invest so much into our day but don't worry, ppl that care & love you will be there & remeber - you are marrying your best friend & the day is about you 2 - no matter how many ppl are around you. You lern who your true friends are & you move on in your journey of life together!
Your day will be beautiful!!!!!!
