I am right there with you..... I just had a HUGE blowout over one of my BMs...they seem like more trouble than they are worth

YES!! I wish I had just asked my Best friend and FSIL. Trying to do anything with the others is impossible. They live in Florida, and they NEVER return phone call or anything. They got their dresses over a month ago and have yet to try them on. I wish I knew then what I know now, I would have kept it simple. From rumors I keep hearing in the family, some are saying my one cousin who is a BM may not even make it because she is broke. I don't understand why they said yes if they knew they couldn't do it!!

ALL 6 of my BMs and my MOH are out of state....and yes, it was EXTREMELY difficult at times. But now that the wedding is approaching, and all that dress stuff is done (and it was a nightmare...the first place we ordered the BMs dresses went bankrupt!), I'm so happy that I am having all my BMs as a part of the wedding. It just wouldn't be the same without them!

I wished I shared your enthusiasm Kathy. I think it is just disappointing when someone who you trust to stand by you & help you make it through the difficulties of planning ends up being one of the difficulties. I am sure once the drama is over, I will be happy.

I mean it is just getting ridiculous. I emailed one of my BM who lives just across the river in NJ and she has yet to return my phone call. I mean I am already buying their freaking dresses. All I am asking them to do is show up on time and breathe, THAT'S IT!! I would have never thought that this would have been this much trouble. And my MOH is gonna give me a nervous breakdown. All she keeps saying is 'I wanna be different'. She keeps picking expensive dresses, that I am not all that crazy about tand I have to find dresses for the other girls that kind of match. I mean for Christ sake it is my day not hers. She wants a dress that has a small train at the back., Is it just me, or is she getting carried away?

Does she realize how uncomforatble a small train will be when she tries to dance??? Maybe you can use that as a selling point. I made the mistake of buying a NYE dress that had a small train on it & I regretted it all night. Not only did it get trashed from everyone stepping on it, but it was very annoying to carry the train around while I was trying to dance.

If you are paying for the girls dresses, then they need to be more acommodating. Many girls have to pay for their own dresses, maybe you can remind them of that as well.

I am sorry you are getting stresses, but in all seriousness i they are behaving this badly already, maybe you can cut the list now before they are in too deep. JMHO

Good Luck

my sister (biological.. i was adopted) was supposed to be my moh and on monday she told me she is leaving for florida, divorcing her husband(also in the bp) and not comming back for the wedding!
TALK ABOUT FREEKING OUT!!!

Luckly my girlfriend was able to fill it and did not feel like second choice but honnored!
we got her dress the same day!
i feel a little better but at the same time very upset that my little sister will not be there on my special day!

Hearzbellz.. that is the absolute truth. I will tell her that she cannot have that dress. It will be impossible to dance in. I would contemplate cutting but there is nothing to cut. I am only having 1 MOH and 3 BM's. Could you believe that little bunch is giving this much trouble My FH has 1 BM and 3 gm's so we would like to keep it even. But I am getting to my wits end, I don't wanna have to turn into bridezilla

Don't worry! Your not a bridezilla and I feel your pain. I went out of my way to find affordable dresses that the girls would love. I knew that it would be hard to get them all there together but I figured I would try. I scheduled an appt with the store in the beginning of October. Out of 8 girls 3 showed up. I have told them that if they give me their measurements that I will put the deposit down for them. So far only 3 haven't done it yet. I am ordering the dresses in February and whoever doesn't have it in then, OH WELL! I wish I had listened to my friend who said have NO BMs.

That is why I only chose my sister and his 2 sisters.
The dress was probally more then they wanted to spend, but I left it to them to use the silver shoes they already had, so don't have to buy new ones (unless wanted to get dyed ones). AND......My BM actually should not really complain..IF they throw me a shower, they are only needing to invite like 40 women. That's a very small expense, compared to a normal shower/BM costs.

I am regretting asking one. But there was no way of not asking her.
SHe is so detached from the wedding. I almost wanted to tell her she's out
but i don't want to ruin the little friendship we have left.

I agree with you! I have one BM in particular who is very jealous, and is making such a production out of everything- it is almost as if she is 'the bride!'.

Definitely put the KABOSH on the MOH who wants a train!!!

Sorry for everyone's bad stories but I'm glad I'm not regretting having no BP, just MOH

I am having only three. 2 live on LI and 1 in Canada. I am hoping that they go for their dress within the next 2 weeks.

Why don't you all speak to the problem BMs. Maybe both of you feel the same way and you and the BM would be happy if she was not in the wedding.

I chose my sister as my MOH and no other BMs for these very reasons. I didn't want any hassles. She picked out her dress, we both love it. I have one BM so I can pay for hair/make-up/jewelry so there won't be a lot of expense for my sister. She paid for her dress, but if we didn't agree on a dress I was planning to pay. I am going with black so she won't need to buy shoes.

I think as brides we need to be considerate of our bridal parties, their lives and their expenses. Our world revolves around our weddings and upcoming marriage. Not theirs. JMO. Again, maybe some BMs are just not doing the right thing, but maybe some brides need to reassess their expecations.

Sorry, meant to say one MOH, not one BM.

Re: ANybody esle regretting their decision to have BMs at all?

I can't tell my BM how i feel. I know deep down she is upset that i am getting
married and not her. And if i told her how disappointed i was...
it would just make her more upset, i know she wants to be in the BP.
