Anybody ever have 2nd thoughts...

on having a wedding? What I'm trying to say is...as I'm looking, booking and pricing things out, I'm thinking that all this money is being spent on a 1 night party instead of buying a house and all that's needed for it. Don't get me wrong, I want my wedding but I can't help but think of the crazy money weddings cost. If I didn't feel like I would regret not having my wedding, I think I would put more into a house down payment. Sorry...just having one of those days where I'm seeing $$$ adding up on everything

i wanted to elope from day 1... fh insisted on the wedding. my response was if we are having a wedding, we have to do it right--- thus 35k later...

This is my story too. I still keep telling him it isn't too late to just sign up, lol. Seems like it's not an option.

I said let's elope and then have the reception in January so I can at least save the $400 a month I'm schlepping out for obamacare. He won't do that either because he doesn't want two anniversaries.

Seeing as though after all this $$ we are spending for a huge party and only HALF of my guest list is coming.. YES! I feel like I could have rented a back room of a restaurant at this point :(

BuT I always dreamed of the big wedding. I'd never let it go if we didn't have a real party.

Yep, especially because I did the big wedding for my first marriage and even before we got divorced, I couldn't believe we spent so much money for a 5+ hour party. Now that this is my second, I'd LOVE to elope-my FH really wants a wedding so I'm lucky he's doing the majority of the planning ;)

ALL THE TIME!!! The stress can really get to me and I can't understand why things are so expensive. It used to drive me crazy when people would say 'Just remember, it's a one-day party...' but now I understand where they're coming from. It really is for one day. We can all do without our first choice flowers. LOL

ALL THE TIME! LOL! I keep saying let's just go to town hall and save the money for something for our family, but he doesn't want to! Haha, I know I would regret it in the long run, but deep down I still think we are crazy for spending SO much on a one day party!!

We just had our engagement party this weekend and my dad (my parents are paying for the wedding) told us he'd rather give us the cost of the wedding (i'm working on a $30-35k budget) to use as we want because he thinks its silly to spend so much money for just a party. I feel insane not agreeing with him -- we don't want a house yet, but THAT kind of money would make a great long vacation and pay off all of our debts/loans. But... I know I'd regret not having the wedding I want...

I totally feel that way sometimes...I'm just happy I was able to keep my budget at $13000-15000. Even that number makes me nervous sometimes though.
