on having a wedding? What I'm trying to say is...as I'm looking, booking and pricing things out, I'm thinking that all this money is being spent on a 1 night party instead of buying a house and all that's needed for it. Don't get me wrong, I want my wedding but I can't help but think of the crazy money weddings cost. If I didn't feel like I would regret not having my wedding, I think I would put more into a house down payment. Sorry...just having one of those days where I'm seeing $$$ adding up on everything

Yup I have this thought at least once a week. At one point I considered cancelling the whole thing. The price of everything is insane. If I could start all over again I would do everything much smaller scale, which is what I originally wanted anyway (but too many others didn't agree), and save all of this money.
Not that I don't want to be married. I just don't want to spend this crazy amount of money. But pretty much too late now, too many things are booked and too many family members are looking forward to this type of wedding.

Yep!! all the time, even mentioned it a few times...we started out as a restaurant wedding that just grew to now bing at a hall. I wish we had a small justice of the peace ceremony but FH really wants this day. I do but I don't want to spend all this money.

All the time! I'm trying to keep it as small as possible & get affordable vendors but even then, i'm looking at 25k-30k. Could definitely use that toward a house. I'm just hoping on my wedding day I take a second & think 'all this money & stress was worth it'

All the time and cried about it last Saturday...just reached my breaking point because I got so scared about the money. I look at it this way just to make myself laugh a little...this is the Sweet 16 party I never had! Lol. Take it day by day and stick with a budget that makes sense for you and hubby...dont blow your entire bank account on this.

i think about it too. At first i wanted a real small wedding. like 30 people in another state somewhere cheaper than NY. then it turned up real fast. Its really hard to have a small wedding with all these places and their mins. Then my mentality of if imma do something imma do it big and right kicks in. I tried not to think about the total amount and just make sure I have enough! Keeps me from feeling that way.
I feel if i didnt do it, I would have regrets. And I just keep telling myself if I can save to do this in a year I can save again like this next year. Then I dont feel as bad.

Everyday. Lol FH and I knew that we wanted a small wedding. We were very lucky to have been able to book with an amazing venue as well as vendors and because of the time of year we saved a lot however it just keeps adding up and up. FH is making a spreadsheet of the cost of the wedding (vendors, venue, favors, invitations, etc.) and I am so dreading to see the final total. Uugghhhhhh!

The thought goes through my mind every day. Thinking about the budget and the amount of money being spent really puts a damper on being so excited for it. I know the day of it will all be worth it.

I did and we eloped. :p if we don't have a real wedding, I think my family will murder us.

I did at first but then again I've never spent this much money on a day for myself. I've never had that opportunity to feel like a princess. I've never been to a prom, never had a sweet sixteen, even stayed home on my 21st birthday. So what makes me feel better is that this is a once in a lifetime experience for me. Also my side of the family never has big weddings just city hall and small celebrations so for me to have such a big wedding is really exciting for them.

We already have a house because we realized that is where money should go.
We at first thought about doing the whole restaurant thing (my sister did it and it was nice), but we realized we wanted a little bit more. Not catering hall level, but just more.
We mentioned eloping in Vegas and FH's mother had a fit. 'I want to celebrate, damn it!' I believer were her words. (FH is an only child, so she would be rather upset).

I always have second thoughts about having a wedding and spending so much, but you only get married once so wwhy not spend a little on one great night.
