Anybody have any inventive ideas for guest sign-in?
I don't want to do the typical sign-in guest book; I wanted to do something different. I've seen the platters and the picture matting to sign, stuff like that, but I'm undecided.

I like the marriage advice jar idea. I've been trying to come up with something other than a guest book. I'll have lots of jewish mothers at my wedding, who will probably jump at the chance to give some advice.

A fish bowl is the same type of idea as the marriage jar...just a bowl that people can write wishes, advise etc on pieces of paper and out in the bowl
At least I think thats what it is!

Re: Anybody have any inventive ideas for guest sign-in?
Oh, ok. Gotcha. And I've seen the platter - I really like it and may go with that because I think it would be nice to display whereas a guest book would just be packed away somewhere...
but I'm still looking for other ideas. I'm so indecisive

We're doing a photo guestbook- using polaroids and I'm making it myself. Using a scrapbook and the photo corners to give it an antique look.

Re: Anybody have any inventive ideas for guest sign-in?
I did the plate and love it. I use it for special occassions and the guests ooh and ahh over it. Im having a bookshelf built in my house and making a special place to display it. :D The only problem is that my husband never wants me to use it!I have a friend who used those guestbook sheets and they were big a flop...no one filled them out!! Not to say that is the case with everyone but her guests didnt bother which was very sad for her.
The poloroid guestbooks are really cute..especially if you have a fun group who will make some wacky faces :D
Ive been to weddings where the couple puts out a coffee table book of their city or their honeymoon desitination and have people write in their best wishes in that.

Re: Anybody have any inventive ideas for guest sign-in?
Stef I was thinking the same thing about the guest book sheets. I know the young people would probably have fun filling them out, but I doubt the older people would want to be bothered, or even know what they were! They're so cute, but I'm not sure if that's what I want to do.My friend had a calligrapher print her and her husband's name on a big sheet of parchment paper along with her wedding date and lines for guests to sign their names. She then framed it in this beautiful dark cherry wood frame. It's absolutely gorgeous! But again, do I really want to have to display that? I'm not sure..... I'm still leaning towards the plate idea.

I found a few more while I was on WC, how about quilt squares, paper placemats that you bind into a book, picture frame. Here's the link (it's a really long thread but maybe you'll find something you like)

Re: Anybody have any inventive ideas for guest sign-in?
I think she was shocked that the young people didnt even do it. I was the only one that drew a photo of them and filled the whole thing out! Cant make much of a book with one sheet

Re: Anybody have any inventive ideas for guest sign-in?
i did the martha stewart wishbowl and it was a hit. i got some great advice and tips and wishes. i love reading them.I bought a cheap vase and decorated it with a ribbon.
My friend made up a poem for it and I framed that next to the wishbowl.
Then I just bough plain notecards and decorated them with a stamp.
and Voila, it was a hit
BTW, I also did the traditional guestbook on the other side of the table.
