Anybody NOT going on their honeymoon right after their wedding?
I think it may be better if we waited a month or two to go on ours, because I will be finishing up my Master's degree but I wanted to know what everyone else thought.

we might. we are getting married on 11/21/04 and b/c i am a teacher, i am having a difficult time getting my boss to approve time off! she basically told me that i should get married in june b/c thats when we have vacation (i work in a 12 month program). anyhoo, i may be able to take a short honeymoon, but odds are we may wait until i have more time off!
How ironic!!! I will be student teaching during this time, which is the last step before I get my master's degree.
I say go for the honeymoon right after the wedding. It will give you a nice brether afterwards. Even if you just get away for a few days until you can do something longer. I am student teaching the fall after my wedding which is why I was limited to summer months for my wedding.
I'd say go after you completed your Master's program! YOu'll mind will be at ease. Just make sure you book it before you finish your program so that it will not be pushed back any further! How exciting! Congrats!
Can u take a small weekend trip and then take a larger one after u graduate?
My Fh is a teacher we r taking a mini moon and then going to Tahiti over the summer. This way at least we have something to look forward to after the wedding is over. I say do what is best for you, this is what worked out for us.
I'm a teacher and my wedding date is June 11, which is a friday. I'm taking off thursday and friday (of course!), but I'll be back to work on monday. We're going on our honeymoon about a month later in july, first of all because I can't take off the rest of june, and also because the cruise we are going on is on a new ship and it doesn't start sailing til July 4. I don't think it's a big deal not to go on your honeymoon right away. You have to do whats convenient for you.
Another teacher here who can't take time off from work. We are going to take a mini moon for a few days over the Christmas break and then take our real hm in Jamaica over the Easter break. I think that gives us something to look forward to.
I agree with most of the replys. If you can go away, even overnight, do it. Finishing up a master's is stressful, especially when you will be doing your student teaching (been there, done that), so focus on that. I know of teachers who got married during the school year and went on their honeymoon in the summer, so it's not that unusual. Besides, by waiting a month or two, you are extending your whole wedding experience, which is going to be great!
I am a teacher also.. We are getting married in Feb b/c we have a weeks break but that weekend before vacation was booked so we are gettig married the weekend before.. I will take the Fri and Monday after my wedding off- im getting married on a Sat.. go back to school (ugh) for 3 days. then we leave Sat the 14th for a week in Aruba. Since we have a summer vaca thats is when we will plan a longer trip. We decided to get married in feb b/c it is less expensive then the summer. It all depends how you feel. If you feel like going away for a week of two weeks is too long, go on a long weekend and then plan for one a little bit later. Whatever works for you!
