Re: anybody NOT inviting their officiant to wedding??
FH's dad is doing our ceremony, so he will be at ours
However, from my knowledge, they usually book 2 weddings, maybe more, in a day, so they may stay for a few extra minutes, but usually need to get to the next wedding right after

I invited my officiant but she declined. She put together a beautiful ceremony for us so the least I could do was invite her to the festivities.

We didnt invite ours. We did not belong to the church that we got married at. We only met him 1x prior to the wedding.

I am having a mass at my childhood church but am not familiar with the priests there anymore. I did not invite the priest who is marrying us. I met with him once and won't be meeting him again until the rehearsal dinner.
I am contemplating on tipping him also. I am paying the church $300 to use the church. Not sure if he gets a portion of this money. My brother told me I should tip him and FH's parents told me they did not tip the priest at their daughters wedding. I am lost with this. I do however plan on tipping the alter boys/girls.
I would give a little something in a separate envelope to the priest. That money that they charge you when you go to sign up for your wedding day usually goes straight to the rectory, think of that money paying for overhead not for services rendered. Parish priests are usually paid a fixed salary (usually just enough to cover their living expenses) and usually do not get bonus money fromt he rectory for doing weddings.
How much would you recommend to tip them? $100 or less? I am really not sure what I should tip.
You give whatever you feel comfortable giving. Anything you give them I imagine would be appreciated.

Never even thought about inviting the Deacon to the reception.
We'll give him a gift...above and beyond the 'suggested donation' to the church.
