not having a RD??.. I'm not sure we are going to have due to lack of money.... would it be terribly wrong if we didn't?

Re: Anyone
Right now I'm still toying with the idea.. I'm getting quotes for $25-$35 pp.. and w/ 35-40 people..well that really adds up.. and right now.. I have a huge wedding expense that I'm trying to clear up before the wedding.. just like everyone else here on the boards...
So I really need to think long and hard about this one...
Althougth, there's a restaurant called Pio Pio in Queens, right on Northern Blvd.. which is my fav. restaurant.. the amount of food per serving is massive and it very reasonable and YUMMY... it's Peruivan cuisine..I might do that...

Re: Anyone
I was just talking abou the same. thing. My parents are the only ones that are helping us with the costs of the wedding and I can't ask them to do that also. and I can't afford to do it either. We were talking about just having the bridal party over about a week before to our apt for drinks and apps. so we can give them our gifts.

Could you just have a BBQ? Do you have a backyard that's big enough to hold everyone? Better yet why not do it pot luck style? Have everyone bring something! Not only do you save $$$$ but everyone gets to share something they love! Run to Costco to get the paper goods and grab some beer - you'll be all set. You could also do just a dessert, cheese and wine party and have it be bring your own favorite wine! That way you all get to discover new wines! Have some friends make desserts! Hell, go to the supermarket and bake your own!
So many of us get caught up in things being a certain way - why does a rehearsal dinner have to be at a resturant? Don't miss out on a great party oppourtunity because money is tight! Get some help and make it a joint venture! If you need to decorate get some balloons! Go to the dollar store! Ask your BM'S for some ideas!
And if you can't have one then you can't! But I would try. JMO!

Re: Anyone
We are not doing one but it's not because of lack of money. I don't really think it's necessary because we are getting married at the RH and not at a church. I plan on giving my girls their gifts either at the bridesmaid’s luncheon or the morning of the wedding.

Re: Anyone
My sister is having one at her mother's house. They're just getting subs and my father is cooking baked ziti and sausage and peppers. If you have the space to do it at home then it could wind up being much cheaper.

Re: Anyone
Im having one - but in my backyard or inside my house if it rains. Im having it catered (by my brother who owns a deli)
Its kinda like tradition to have that way, bc my sister and brother had it in my house.... and i think its less formal and more fun than a restaurant sit-down meal.
